Great shooting and obviously its working for you! Im just taking a stab in the dark that your not the AVERAGE shooter either. Bullet placement is paramount in any system working. A well placed shot thru the boiler room is fatal, FMJ bonded solid whatever, the recovery distance and damage is the only difference. Im on the side of recovery but I also dont intentionally shoot animals thru the shoulders cuz my wifes Lasagna and spaghetti sauce , OH AND THE CANELLONI, made from the less tender front end is not going to waste if I can help it. With that said if one needs to think about too many things while hunting then maybe not shooting is the best option. I actually have seen the effects of small bullets on game and I dont disagree with you as long as the operator is above average in the marksmanship. The biggest deer Ive ever shot, weight wise, was killed with a Remington 22-250 shooting 55GR Sierra gameking #1390 with IMR 4895 and CCI BR2 primers in PMC cases. I shot it at 135 yards. It weighed 229Lbs field dressed five days after it was shot. Guess how far it went, DRT. Im also a big believer in the RPM being a major contributor for the killing power. yeah, all these discussions should caveat automatically that you place the bullet, it's what happens after, either way, more damage can save the day far better than less damage, the argument for 3-4' of penetration advantage of tougher bullets is only for Texas heart shot shooting...if that's your preferred shot then carry on with the mono's and bonded lol, from every other angle the eld-m is the winner, even still the femoral arteries far more likely to catch with a Texas heart shot with eld-m so not even sure 3-4' of penetration argument could trump the eld-m argument there either
the whole post was pretty funny, not only have they been sectioned by many but used by many, haven't seen anyone say they can tell the difference when knife comes out between an x or an m, but I have seen more than a few guys who have tried both just prefer and stick with the m, hardly seen a report of anyone trying both decide the x was better and then stay with that, what's the more affordable option and generally more accurate? and have the higher bc for weight?....the m, that's why generally the m is preferred, better inflight, better price....'hunting marketing' is expensive
reality, splitting c-hairs, if you can tell difference on game between them...you'd be the first, they both great fast killing bullets, if the marketing on the box gives you more warm and fuzzies then pay for it and shoot the x

Iirc somewhere i read that hornady stated above a certain velocity threshold the eld-x performs one way, and below that is where the actual traditional hunting performance lies.
I know this, because after one hunting season while I was searching historical records to see my land ever had any active landmines placed on it that the deer might have triggered after being shot at 35m with an eld-x.
If you ever would like to anatomically inspect a deer for maintenance work, shoot it with an eld-x at close range.
IME, It removes all the annoying red squishy bits and places them nicely in a pile to the side, and leaves an inspection hole large enough for your head. Sadly it cant really be used more than once, as the deer kinda violently dies, but at least all its organs are neatly arranged outside the body.
