I was at my gunsmiths this week and got to check out a rifle he was putting together in 25 PRC. Just curious if anyone on here has built one and what kind of performance they have got out of it. I know some will say whats the point there is already a 6.5 prc, but I already have the 6.5 and I am more of a 25 caliber fan. Another wildcat to tinker with is always fun .

Ive been debating building one. Im in a 25 cal FB group, lots of guys run them down south. Some guys are pushing the 133-135gr Bergers over 3250fps. Depending on barrel length, some have seen 3300+fps. Makes for an absolute laser beam, truthfully be flatter then a 140gr 6.5 PRC at 3000fps.

Brass would be simple, 6.5 PRC bushing die, neck it down and off you go.

25 SAUM is also popular down south.
25-284 win
257 wby with a 8t barrel would probably be the simplest, no need to neck brass down. Might be a smidge less velocity then the PRC or SAUM but wouldn't be much.

I'm the opposite... quarter bores are tied for my least favorite calibers. Not to kick your puppy, but I would far sooner do the 6 5 PRC, and it is a much easier/cheaper route to go... if you did decide to do one, I would neck down the 7 PRC and build on a standard action... that would be a screamer. Would be a good goat rifle.

As I said I already have a 6.5 prc, So not an issue of if I should have one or not. It does its job quite well and maybe so well its boring. Just trying to play with stuff thats a little more interesting to me. A 6.5-7prc could be cool but I already have the high velocity 6.5 covered with a 6.5-300wby. I have though about a 30-7prc, Pretty much duplicates a 308 norma mag, just weird enough I think its interesting.

Sounds like thats creeping close to 257 wby territory.
If you're on FB I suggest joining that group and doing some reading. Lots of knowledgeable quarter bore guys there with every 25 cal wildcat you can think of. Some guys get better velocity from the PRC then the 257 wby for some reason. Kind of like the 7mm rem mag vs 280 AI. 280 AI burns 10gr less powder and yields same velocity within 50ish fps.

The group is called 25 Creedmoor (and I guess 25X47L, 25SAUM, 25PRC, Basically Fast Twist 25's) check it out and do some research on there.
