And that was in the real old days of Bud Haynes...The venue was an old small garage beside the Red Deer river in an industrial area and he and the girls stood on 2x10 planks supported & elevated on 45 gal drums at the back of the building.
You are sure right about "the good old days". No FAC or PAL back then, you outbid everybody else and then the gun was handed down from the planks into the crowd and handed thru the crowd until it reached you...it was in your hands 30 seconds after the sale. One of the girls followed it to you so you could sign the credit card receipt or pay your cash...you bet those were the good old days that thousands of Canadian gun owners will never know

So here is some price memory and perspective for you.

When the majority of these were probabaly maybe... (1965-1975 rough timeline) they were between $250-$350

Pre-Pandemic these were a TOUGH sell at gun shows and online at between $600-$1000 depending the model and boxes/paperwork

During the Pandemic these sold for easily $1300-$1800 New in box with all the paperwork.

Nowadays people still list them for between $1300 - $1800 and they aren't selling.

Used they are worth $750 at most. New in box.... a fair price would be $1000-$1200 to be able to hold for another decade so they could increase in value 8-10% each year. Conservatively....

Use your best judgment. A lot deal like this means prices will be cheaper. Don't pay full pull on each. There are a tonne of these out there.

Commemorative Winchesters, achieve their highest value if unfired in the original, "excellent" condition box.

• If the gun is fired and shows handling marks, the box itself isn't worth that much
• If the box is damaged or in poor shape, zero value

If the rifles you bought are excellent and unfired, then an excellent condition box would increase their value substantially.
In that case I would offer $100 per box maximum, depending how much you paid for the rifle already.

These commemorative Winchesters are for collection only, they are eye appealing, and some have super nice walnut stocks.

However, it was said that the barrels are not that great, which makes them not desirable as shooters.

Receivers are made of sintered metal, which don’t take any traditional gun blueing, hence the plated receivers, which in most cases start to flake off, once in use.

I have sold 2 in the last year, fast sells (few days to sell and ship it out ) and i got 1250$ for a longer one (26" octagon barrel) with a small rust spot on the barrel and 1450 for the other, which was pristine. Both were unfired and had the boxes, but both boxes were ratty and dog eared. 1800 is high yes. 1300 for a nice one with the box i would assume would sell fairly easily. But just speculation

Each one of these 15 rifles are in excellent condition and never fired, 10/10. The old fella clearly looked after them and stored them properly and probably never handled them or looked at them. They are just a conversation piece and a collection for me. I averaged $930 for each.

Another year question for all.. I have a big beautiful shop/man cave that is more of a living space than a working/wrench pulling shop that we often have gatherings in. I’d to display these 15-18 rifles somehow? On the wall? Behind glass? Run a cable through them all and secure to the studs in the wall? Security/safety with kids/legal storage obviously all being considered. Maybe there are specialized gun safes for the wall?

If you bought the rifles at a reduced price because they had no boxes you should pay more to get the boxes.

Unless you have a nice custom cabinet with glass fronts the only real way to display them is on the wall sideways.. i have a few rifles in my office/man cave mounted higher up out of reach of small hands.. room is pretty secure when im not inside
