Hi
How many of you belong to a deer or moose camp?
My deer camp was established in 1975 so our camp is relatively young for an Ontario deer camp
There are 6 in the camp either close family or lifelong friends

Tried the whole deer camp thing for a few years but I found my season was better if I hunted alone since then the camp died off property’s were sold and guys moved on still hunt a moose camp though

Deer camp in Ontario for about 10 years. Moose camp in Ontario for 2 years. Most of my previous big-game hunting was either solo or just 2 of us (dad & me, or buddy and me).

Deer camp about 5 of us (4-6 depending on year). Moose camp is 4 of us. Some overlap between the two camps besides me ;-)

I would say yes, I have what has become "deer camp"
Options for moose vary year to year so there is no set "camp" as far as locations go so camp is wherever we end up getting tags if we do.
Our previous moose camps that were in open season areas have all gone limitted entry lottery only a few years ago now and pulling tags has been challenging.
Deer camp though.... I solo hunted coastal mountain blacktail out of a small camp I settled on just over 20 years ago now. In recent years, my brother and nephew and a couple friends have planned thier seasons to join me so it has become somewhat of a tradition for us all to meet up there on specific dates each season. I really look forward to it as we are a very laid back bunch and with my disabilities catching up to me it sure is nice having able bodies to help me get my animals off the mountain and back to camp. Something I did solo for years and it was always very hard work LOL

I’ve been a member of a deer camp since 1984. Lots of great memories, lots of deer on the game pole too. Unfortunately the deer herd has crashed just as most of the guys are pushing into their 70’s. Last year was the first year that we were skunked. That’s a tough pill to swallow considering that we used to tag out on bucks and less than 10 does have been shot in over 40 years! The clock is ticking and it makes me sad to think about it.

I’ve also been in a couple of moose camps over the years… different guys, different flavour! I just appreciate getting out in the woods each fall!

When you fellas talk about a moose camp or deer camp I take it you are himtimg on private property with approval and friends .

As moose or deer camp for me is where you set up camp on public land and hunt from there for the duration of your hunt

Deer camp in West Quebec for the last 22 years, 110 acres that three of us bought together for $20 000, we could not afford to re-buy it now since land prices have gone insane since Covid.
My two sons are now taking care of most of the camp/trail maintenance , one of my buddies son will soon be old enough to join us.

The only access is by ATV as we are 20kls from the nearest maintained road and we are lucky to have no other hunters near us.

Absolute Paradise for Whitetail deer.

Lots of 1 acre crown land leases with permanent structures, wells, solar systems, wood stoves, wired for a generator
