Attempting to shoot in the white to spot better. First three shot group with this gun off the tripod in red with a low miss. Then a little better in blue. It’s a bit surprising considering the movement in the scope.

BogDeathGrip. Rem700. Factory trigger at 40oz. 300WSM. Benchmark MTU. 6-36 Vortex set at 36. HS Precision Silhouette stock.

No. But I do hold the foam on the front leg. Inside of elbow on left leg. Makes a big difference.

Try attaching a sling to the front swivel and using a carbiner to clip the other to your belt. Then stick your butt out to stabilize it.

Or you can wrap the sling to the tripod leg and giving it a twist to tighten it up.

I mean, yeah, you can do that, it was the norm about 10-15 years ago. You'd be much better off at this point either replacing the saddle with an arca/RRS dovetail setup or just taking the saddle off and throwing a gamechanger over the apex or better yet using a piece of plexiglass (or similar) as a flat surface for a bag. Much easier to shoot small groups standing that way.

Just keep shooting and enjoy it. I did something similar but had 2 legs forward and one back. Then I leaned into it a little heavier.
Groups improved slightly.
Then I just went back to my bench shooting. Now my .338 lm just gathers dust because I moved.
Soon to move back to the long range province of AB.
