Question: I belong to adjacent ranges and am curious if any traditional target shooting is done on this fabulous range? I'm talking prone, unsupported with a military style target rifle with, at most, target iron sights. Looking down from the Swiss club all I see are giant scopes and front/rear supports.

Sub'd and curious too - looks like a beautiful range but the rules and requirements have always seemed strange and as a result I never proceeded with trying to join, but I would love to shoot out to 1000m...

I've done some, but TR just isn't as enjoyable if there's only 2 or 3 shooters.

Agreed, these days everyone is looking for the easy button.
TR is simply too hard and takes too long for most to master, Fclass is much easier to get a reasonable score compared to TR.
The reality is however, it is all relative, because if you are competing in F/TR or F/O, you are competing against the same equipment as others. So the scores themselves are relative to the class.
TR shooters are a fast dying breed, not to many of us hard cores left compared to FClass shooters.

Definitely more muscle memory involved in the TR sling shooting than F-Class. There are a few members that shoot off of their elbows, but F-Class has taken over. The smaller target rings and much greater emphasis on reloading makes it a bit more competitive.

Rules are not that complicated - two classes involved, F-TR and F-Open. F-TR is either 308 or 223, 8.25 kg max, shot off of a bipod. F-Open is all other calibers up to 8mm, 10kg max, shot off a rest or bipod. Scope need to be adjustable out to 1000 rds, preferably adjusted in MOA, but some people do shoot mrad. 2-3 people on a target alternating shots. And what sorts of rifles are the guys that shoot off their elbows using? You're describing "competitive" in the sense of competitive "benchrest" shooting—best reloader and best equipment wins. As we all know, traditional marksmanship contests attempt to have contestants all equipped with comparable guns and ammo—like a traditional Swiss club with everyone using a K31 and GP11 ammo and shooting prone, unsupported. I see on the FB club website that some of the formal matches held annually include traditional TR-type shooting although I have no idea what sort of equipment that would involve. Personally, I'd just like the opportunity to practice with something like my DCRA No. 4 at ranges greater than the 300m at the Swiss Club.

Here are some pics of TR rifles .
We shoot from 300 Meters to 1,000 meters .
Generally speaking ,aperture sights front and rear with adjustable dipoters with the clear in either 1/3 or 1/4 increments, sling and shooting jacket .
TR is shot these days with either .223 or 308.
Us " mouse gun" shooters are normally using the 90 grain Bergers or 95 Match Kings in fast twist barrels
