Looking fir a new scope and looking for CGN input. Currently looking at the Burris fullfield and the vortex diamondback. May try ri get my hands in a nikon prostaff as well to look through. Scope will be on a xbolt 6.5 creedmoor hunting rifle. Thanks in advance.

I had the Burris Fullfield and they are a very nice.
I went with the 6.5 creedmoor reticle which may be great for hunting.
I found the reticle bang on for holdover which from my recollection goes out to 700 yards.
The reticle is based on 140gr @ 2710fps.
Downside is if you ever change calibres from 6.5.

I have two of the new Fullfields. I used to have a Diamondback and feel like the Fullfield has better eye box (comparing my memory of a similar Diamondback, the 2-7x35, with the new Fullfield 2-8x35).
The only caution I have about the new Fullfields is that they are relatively short (physical length) for their magnification range, at least for my experience which is with more traditional style but modern hunting scopes like Bushnells and Leupolds of the past 15 years. The fields are more likely to need a rail given the short mounting space. Since most newer rifles have rails that's ok. Anyway if you're not using a rail be sure to check the required mounting space. The Burris website gives the dimensions.

Correct, I had to use a rail.
Actually I had to cut an 1/2 inch off the rail to allow The scope to move back far enough .
If you get something with a smaller Bell you wouldn’t need to cut the rail .

While I don't have any experience with the Vortex brand, I was in the same position and trying to decide between Burris and Vortex. There was one thing that made the decision quick and easy. While reading reviews of the two brands, one comment was common among all reviews:
" it's a good thing that Vortex has a lifetime warranty, you WILL be using it." Or something along those lines.
While the warranty is what made me decide to go with Burris, I'd rather be shooting than waiting for a scope to be fixed or replaced.

Problem with rings is you more than likely won’t be able to adjust the scope back far enough. Unless the tube is long enough.
Here’s an example. Burris needs a rail Swaro dont

I think I have 4 or 5 Burris scopes Never have had an issue with any !
