Hey Folks,

I have a conundrum.

I am going down south (flying) and my ArmiSport 3-band enfield is too robust to fit in just about ANY case.

I'm qualified to bring it, but I have to have it in a locking hardsided case.... This is of course going to be difficult.
We're talking about a 55" smokepole here.

Do any of you have suggestions for how I might get my boy housed to the airline standard for his journey?

The Airlines Policy:
  • Firearms need to be in a hard-sided case with a lock. The hard-sided case can be placed inside an unlocked, soft-sided bag as long as it’s secure.
  • The case containing the firearm must be locked when we receive it. The key or combination must always be with you.
  • You aren’t required to use a TSA-recognized lock. However, it’s recommended to speed up security screening.
  • You can pack up to 5 firearms in one case. You can typically check up to 9 bags or cases, including checked bags without firearms.

There are samsonite type hard cases made that will fit your brown bess. I have one that is around 5 feet long and 10 or 12" across. You might have to impromise a bit to make it lockable. I am just not sure where you would buy one

I have a 50" flambeau case - is there any reason I can't pop the barrel out of the stock so it fits in the case?

Assuming this is all fine and dandy, I have a case that will work now.
