Are the buffer spring and buffer needed on these rifles??
Yes, they are both required. The buffer spring keeps the bolt in battery, and the buffer is used as a spacer to prevent the charging handle from contacting the receiver when fully drawn to the rear.
Would a 223 spring and buffer work or only the 7.62 ones (like on a semi counter part)?

12.5" and 16" Mavericks are both still non-restricted.
You will need the MRA Renegade/Maverick Buffer Spring for the Maverick rifle.
But a normal 308 buffer will work just fine?
