Hornady custom Grade Rifle dies

Just bought some Hornady custom grade rifle dies in 30-06.. Just wanna know if some of you guys are using them ..Do you love them or are they just bull####... From some reviews I've read they seem to work well ..What about you ???

they work , providing you are only using jacketed bullets and not cast a couple thou over. The sizing die works great, the seating die on the other hand....

Hi there,

I am reloading since at least 20 years ...
so far i have:
11 RCBS Dies
2 Lee Dies
1 Lyman Die
1 Dillon Die
and
2 Hornady Dies (1 in 9mm and 1 in 30/06)
out of all my Dies both (and only) Hornady's are broken
I contacted Hornady directly for Parts, however the Parts are much more expensive than buying a new one from RCBS...
That's all i can say about their Quality product and their Customer service...

If you want to invest in a good quality product from a company with outstanding customer service , than go with RCBS...

I for sure will never touch that Hornady Crap again!!!
 
ive got a set of hornady dies for my 06, hate them, the collars are a bugger to tighten up, and are always slipping. They are sitting on my shelf under a thick layer of dust. Prefer lee dies myself, and rcbs if you have extra cash burning a hole in your pocket
 
All my dies are RCBS except for my .35 Whelen which are Hornady. No complaint about them. I did have to buff the inside of the seater sleeve. It had a sharp edge and was leaving a nice ring around the nose of my bullets, no big deal. I'd buy them again.
 
I like the Hornay dies. The new "Zip" spindle models do not slip at all and the older style were no worse than Lee's.

I like the sliding bullet seater and find they load rounds with very little - if any - bullet runout.

The gentlemen above are somewhat correct in that the Hornady seater often leaves a lot to be desired, that said some of them work well, for those that do not it is worth purchasing a Wilson seating stem in the appropriate diameter, if you are fortunate you may have to lightly lap the seating stem and the floating 'chamber'.........if this does not work throw the bastard thing away and buy a Forster or Redding chamber type seater.
The full length die is reasonable.....if you throw that mongrel decapping stem away and replace it with something decent.

So to recap....the Hornady bits and pieces that I currently own are good, the ones I threw away are utter sh!t.

Ps, this is not confined to Hornady, I have a couple of Redding dies that are also sh!t....however it happens less often with Redding.
