just recently purchased a vintage remmy model 37 target rifle and I would like to put a period correct 16/20/24x scope on it. best choice would be a redfield 3200 series (I think those were the most popular) plus they have a 1" tube so I could put modern rings on it if I couldn't find the correct period rings. I'm hoping someone knows of a shop/store/smith that might have what I'm looking for. just missed out on one that was listed on funpost but I know these don't come up very often. any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

the redfield looks like it might fit. the remington model 37 has bases on the barrel only and the spacing to the turrets might work out. the Lyman has a bit of a different shape/spacing to it but it could well work too. I see you are in NE Alberta, I might bring the rifle for a visit to find out which scope would work if that's ok with you. what kind of pricing are you thinking of?

I'm near Elk Point. C'mon over sometime. Private range here as well.

Haven't really considered, but it won't be nothing exotic....haha....I like to help out on projects like that.

Call phill at trace optic repair he might have something for you!
great lead! I did call phil and he spent about 20 min discussing my options and the 2 scopes that Dmay has kindly offered to me. unfortunately neither of Dmay's scopes can be mounted on the 37 unless the receiver gets drilled and tapped which would drastically reduce the value of the rifle. the spacing of the bases on the barrel was an industry standard back in the day and all target rifles were set up this way for the externally adjusted scopes. Phil has a 15X lyman super targetspot complete with rings and external adjusters and in gently used condition which would be a most excellent match for the rifle. he also asked me to shoot it with the Vaver peep sights which are now on the rifle, mentioning I could surprise myself. not likely. anyway Dmay has 2 really good scopes that would be period correct for the next gen (1955+) Win 52 and Remington 40X rifles and a few others. I'll keep posting as this project progresses along, thanks everyone.

I have a BSA Mk. II which was made with the blocks for an externally adjustable target scope. I keep my eyes open for Lyman Target Spots and the Unertls, but whenever one turns up, the asking price brings a tear to my eye.
