Need a gunsmith point of view!!

Can anybody tell me if it's possible to mount a picatinny rail on a Sako 75 action. I really don't like the optilok system and would like to be able to pull a scope off of one rifle and mount it on another without having to remove it from the rings and then remount it in another set.

With tactical rings and a picatinny rail you just losten - move - tighten and shoot... provided you zero first and record the W/E for each rifle.

Can you just tap and thread Sako's proprietary rails or does the receiver have to be machined down to remove Sako's rails?

If anybody has any info on this I would love to hear your suggestions.

The base for the flat top Tikka could be used for the flat top Sako... the holes in the base may not be in the correct placement and the Sako would require drilling and tapping...
 
For my own Sako I used the Leupold slide on bases.
Was not too happy with the possiblity of movement so after getting them into a solid position, I drilled each base in the center down into the integral Sako base, tapped it and then pulled it apart, countersunk the base hole and then put it back together with one 6x48 screw locktited in to each base. Has not moved in 10 years.

I'd rather have a two base system, than the rail running over the action. Couldn't a rail be machined to slide onto the Sako dovetail, or attached to the leupold slide on bases?
 
Burris offers a two piece Picatinny rail system for the TIKKA rifles. It is listed as a Tactical Base. No MOA correction model available. It just screws right on using the holes on the top of the receiver.
 
So basically I'd have to buy a flat picatinny rail and have the Sako rails drilled and tapped by a gunsmith to make it work.
