i am 23 living in the GTA and i have just recently recieved my res/unres licence. i am currently in the casino security industry but looking to make a move. i am interested in everything from sales to gunsmithing... any help or suggestions beyond handing out resumes (which im planning on doing) would be great. also this is my first post so sorry if this already exists.......its my first day.;)

I do not recommend it. I once tried to work as a career in the same area as my hobby. I ended up loosing the hobby and shortly thereafter the career. You find that most, not all, but most people who "work" with guns very rarely continue using them as a hobby for sport, culture and heritage. For example, a fellow who works in a gun store. Once his buddies find that out, every time they see him at the range they will be like "can you get me this", or "how much is that", or "I had a problem with this" and slowly the person will stop going the range. Another example, a gunsmith, one that actually works, will get so sick of working on guns, that he won't want to see them on his off hours. Just my $0.02, but with a caveat of having lived a similar event so speaking from experience.

I wouldn't count on the firearms industry to provide for me and my family in this country. The obvious plans to try disarm us would make me think more about a career in knife making/sales. That being said, best of luck to you and hope it works out.

I don’t know what your experience with firearms and smithing is, but maybe try as an armourer in the movie industry?
I have no idea where you live, or how big a need there is for this, but the movie industry in Alberta seems to be fairly busy.
Just my .02 thoughts.

I heard wages for jobs such as Brinks armoured vehicle guard pay minimum wage, which was completely unexpected when considering the danger and qualification you need to have.

Your well-wishes are nice… but also well over a decade too late.

The OP is now already into his mid-thirties, and hasn’t been on CGN for over five years.

As said above not sure how the necro thread popped up. But I'm sure you read that. Consider getting your own life bud, I wouldn't have chimed in had i read the date.

I have edited my original nasty gram. Strange things can happen but Ive never seen a necro thread pop up from 13 years ago. I find it hard to believe but shxt happens. I do have my own life haha
