After the passing of my father, who was a member of this forum, part of the estate is a Colt Python 6" Barrel with polished stainless steel. NOw because of the new laws in Canada, i cannot legally own it. I'll be damned if i give it up to the police, or have it destroyed. Can somebody here please poinbt me in the direction of a business that would be willing to purchase it? I'm aware private individuals can no longer have a restricted firearm transferred into their name, so a business is my last hope. Thanks in advance!

I am sorry for your loss of both your father and this beautiful piece of firearm history that he left to you and that you cannot enjoy, as he intended you too. That is a sad day all around.
Best of luck getting it to a new home.

If you might know of any cross border dealers that take these kinds of pieces, please let me know!

Remember: the estate executor has thr responsibility to get the most for the estate they can. In this case, that might involve holding into the firearm for a while in case the laws change.

An estate often takes years to settle, even for simple ones.

My condolences on your father’s passing. This pain is far too familiar for my wife and I…:(

There are plenty of Authorization To Carry (ATC), permit holders in Canada.
They can include trapping, guiding, prospector, and forestry workers who need a firearm to protect ones life in the field.

Your Dad’s Colt Python in 357 magnum should qualify for an ATC permit depending on the province I would think….:)

Advertise on Gun-Post, Town-Post, and Gunnutz, you could very well find a buyer who would cherish this beautiful firearm.

Make sure you are specific in your ad that the transfer will only work if an individual has a ATC permit.

Good luck with the sale.

Again, sorry for your loss….:(

first of all sorry for your loss
second of all posting on a monitored form not the best idea
simply call a gun dealer with a good rep one that has been in buissness for 30 plus years they will know what you could do or not do
second of all everything is on a need to know basis
sharing personal info with the world not such a good idea
and last nothing will happen to your handgun we will have a change of gov in the next 1-2 years if we get a change of gov all will be fine if we don't then you will need to act accordingly

Are you the executor? - dan

Marstar deactivates revolvers. If you want to personally keep it and you can live with it being a paperweight I'd maybe try calling them.
If you have a family member or friend in the USA it costs I believe around 300 last I checked to send one over.
The dealers will not offer you much for it.
There are exempt private buyers in Canada who can still purchase for either Olympic practice or for wilderness carry.
