I have one and the RCMP made sure to bring the fact to my attention that it was on the last big list and that it was a terrible thing to have and it, and perhaps me, should be locked up! With that said it was overkill to ban it as a 22!

Ponymusic, I assumed that the purchase was on file, it was from a gun shop rather than an individual, and that it was flagged for notification. I may be wrong and it could have been a blanket notice to every PAL holder but the notice went out and sure enough when I checked it was on the naughty list. Not sure about your other question.
I just tried to find the email that they sent me regarding the M1 prohibition with no luck so I’m not sure if it was blanket or targeted to specific owners.
