I've got an old Remington 760 pump with the corn cob style forend. Has anyone converted one to new style or can it be done ? What's involved and needed if it can be done ?
Any help would be great !
Thanks !

^^^ And not a lot of choices without a donor rifle or watching Numrich for parts a long time. The three below are the different two series of the 760.
Two on top are .35Rem, a 1981 and a 1952 old style. Bottom is a 1952 .300Sav that someone had Custom wood made up. Sure wish I knew who or where it came from.
If it’s just a wood update your wanting, Boyd’s or some other supplier might be the best option.

Best to sell it and buy what you want. Too much hassle and expense if it can even be done at all.

Easily done if you are handy. Remove the plastic tip from the modern unit, round the edges and refinish.

Have you done this ? I'm new to Remington's being a Winchester 88 and 100 guy lol. I am handy with wood so if it's that easy would definitely give it a try. I was worried the slide tube was a dif size being a 35 Rem call ?

Yes, I put a modern stock off a 7600 on a 1950s 760 in 300 Savage.

Did you find the forearm? I am looking for a corn cob style one!

Excuse me if this sounds like a stupid question but here goes. Can a sixties era forend from an 870 Wingmaster fit on a 760? I have an excellent one with the 5 diamond checkering just collecting dust.

I believe the butt stock on the 20ga 870 fits the 760/7600 but I have not confirmed and not sure about the forend.

You need to start a thread and share those others with us. I've had a couple 35Rems over the years, Whelens and a 223 among a slury of other common ones. All gone now from downsizing.
Agreed, I chased them for a few years and ended up with quite a few and some rare ones. But eventually ran out of space and lost interest and sold them all.

No, a 12 gauge fore end won’t work. BUT, at one time there was a company that made an adapter so that you could use a 12 gauge fore end on them. Not sure if they are still in business or not. If you google 760 fore end adapter you can find some pictures of them. If you’re handy you could build your own. That’s what I wound up doing. Now I’m running a Magpul SGA stock and fore end on mine.
