As much as I like the idea of the .22 Creedmoor I'm not a fan of the barrel life (under 2000 rounds). I would need a new barrel every year shooting prairie dogs on my annual trip to southern Alberta. I'll stick with .223 Winchester.

That's bullet diameter, what's the cartridge? Just curious.

The .22 BR is a great little one... BUT you already have all the 1000 yard plinkers you need... load up and get on with the shooting

Those would both be good options.

I would have went with 223AI but IBI didn't have a reamer so I went vanilla 223 Wylde but I typically shoot it at 500M so it is a great fit anyways.

I run 75gr BTHPs or ELDMs and no issues hitting 2950fps in a 26" barrel. With the ELDs at that speed you have 6.5 Creed ballistics (for wind, elevation is much flatter) out to 600ish yards. It's not ideal for 1000yds but totally doable, plus it's just for plinking so why not? You'll use maybe 60% of the powder you'd use in a Creed case and get about 5x the barrel life (all my .223 barrels have gone to 7600 or so rounds where they start getting flyers that open groups up to 1 moa).

Almost identical to the path I chose.

75 BTHPs in 223 have been great for me, cheap shooting and easy. I actually have new 223 Lapua brass and it has shot so well with the IVI that I haven't even got around to trying it.

I went Terminus Zeus QC for my 223 and it runs great.

Barrels are comically easy to change. Undo two small hex screws holding the barrel just in front of the action and then the barrel spins off (hand tight).

Makes cleaning easy too.

Zeus has minimal effort to lift the bolt and almost zero to close it (it almost falls to the closed position).

Personally I would like to have something different and have the ability you can swap barrel at range without taking the barrel vise kit.

Well under 2000 if what I am hearing is accurate.
