Figured I would start a thread on the cross compatibility of Dillon 550 conversion kits. Some calibers work with shell plates you already have, and some calibers aren't even made, so it's nice to know what available kits will work with unlisted calibers.

The first one for me is 41LC, I think enough people are keeping it alive that it's worth mentioning. I tried 357/38, 40 s&w, and a bunch of others. It turns out that 8mm Mauser shell plates have a firm grip on the base of my 41lc cases. Shell plate 1

303 British, they do make a conversion kit for it, but if you can use something you already have, those conversion kits are a nice cost to avoid where possible. The best grab I have had on the 303 cases is the shellplate from my 38-40 kit, which is actually the identical kit for 44-40 and the caliber for which I use it. Shell plate N

308 Winchester, I'm sure everyone who reloads will have this caliber Conversion, it's super common, but I'm reloading for a friend who's "thrifty" and so not buying another kit is ideal. 38-55 Shell plate 7 is a great hold on 308 and I just finished full-length resizing all the bras with that plate installed.

This just leaves the pins and powder droppers, for me, I have enough kits that I can find a pin size to work, and have 3d printed sized and threaded funnels for my powder, a little slower than using the powder drop, but it's a small sacrifice, although retailers will sell you just the powder droppers pieces if you find the right site. Hope this helps.

Please add what you have found for Dillon shell plate cross compatibility! After all, the point of reloading for most people is to save money. Those conversion kits aren't getting any cheaper!

This chart: https://dilloncdn.com/magento/charts/rl450-rl550-conversion-chart.pdf

contains all the shellplate, powder funnel, and button combinations found in their conversion kits.

You could just purchase the parts individually if you know you're going to have some overlap (though this probably doesn't help too much with unlisted calibers).
I mainly started this thread for stuff that's unlisted but I thought it would be helpful for the ones that Dillon doesn't list but still do work with each other... The biggest one for me was trying to find a shell plate for 41 LC which is unlisted.

I have the Dillon chart that I use for cross referencing different shell plates, expander powder drops. Anything that’s not listed I get Cartridges of the World out and compare the measurements for rim and base to see what is similar. The little brass buttons I make out out brass rod so not hard to make any size I want on my lathe. Saves a lot of money not having to buy a new kit for every cartridge.
