Ok, so I'm tired of carrying all my hard cases to and from the range. I'm looking for a "tactical" nylon case, that I could strap in about 4 handguns or a short shottie if I chose to, and carry ammo on the outside. I've seen Marstar's bags online, but I'm not sure if they would work for handguns. Does anyone have a bag like this? How does it work for you? pics? I would appreciate the advice.:)
 
My concern would be whether or not a nylon bag would meet safe storage criteria.

Of course a bag would be about as secure as the flimsy plastic cases they come with but whether or not a LEO would interpret it the same way or not I don't know.

Ok the fabric is not opaque and the words "Sturdy" and "cannot be easily broken open / into" are open for a latany of discussions, shaping, interpertations, arguments etc. That is TOO BROAD for acceptance and is wide open for challanges.

One point that I want to bring up - is it any different to break the loop in a zipper where the padlock goes on, than the little bit of plastic that some pistol boxes have on the perimeter where the padlock locks on? Is the fabric sturdy or can it be ripped with bare hands?

Who is there to say what's easy or hard?? Why is it that such an impotant topic had been left so obscure by the laws? If it is so important they should have elaborated and gave specifics on the topic. They stated that opaque is disallowed and that is fair enough. But they left a million and one questions hanging on the rest.

Black ballistic nylon but their bags can be had in forest green. Made in USA, none of that cheap Chi-com crap.

they sell these bags for guns right? So, I'm thinking that ballistic nylon is "sturdy" and the bag is non-transparent, and lockable, so...they should work if I find the one that suits my needs.
 
I'm pretty sure a good bag in just as hard to get into as the lockable plastic cases mosdt handguns come in from the factory. Trigger lock it and put it in the locked bag, done and done. Transport away. :)

I agree a 'good' bag would be hard to get into. But I believe that the original intent of the wording, "Container", implied a hard (plastic/metal) case.

My fear is not the breaking of the lock or zipper tab on a bag. It's the simple use of a knife to easily cut it open and remove any or all of it's contents quickly.
 
I agree with that Assyrian, but I have been to the range on more than a few occasions, unpacked the Glock, Sig, and / or my 460 Mag, trigger / action locked and pad locked inside my range bag, while police or Fish and Game officers were at the safety table, one police was paying close attention and waited for me to get my 460 out to let him handle it. Never a comment about the bag, but I could have been lucky with what officers were there too I suppose. I just never worry about it, the bag never leaves my sight or grasp anyways. :)
 
I recently bought this bag at my local gun shop. Although not American made, it seems to be pretty good quality. It measures 8" x 15" x 9" and has 3 interior pockets and 2 removable padded gun sleeves. It also has 2 lockable outside pockets and easily holds a 6 1/2" barreled revolver.

I was at an auction last year and they had some old bank/armoured car stuff in a lot.

For $50 I got about 10 locking, heavy-duty, money-transport bags that work perfectly. They're a VERY heavy canvas with leather trim and locking zippers (integrated lock). They're about 8"x10".

Asked the local RCMP about them, and they said it was just fine for transport.

Whatever you do, don't get the Gunmate bag from the previous pictures, I have only had it for 6 months, and already it has a broken zipper, one of the handles has come off, not to mention the padded pistol bags on the inside are thin and cheap IMO. I have since had my wife sew the handle back on, and use it for holding dirty old range brass. I picked it up for a cheap $30.00, and you get what you pay for! Cheers!
