Well, I took all 4 pistolas out to the range today. I've been working for the last 5 weeks and haven't shot in that time either.

Observation #1.

My Sig Mosquito is actually turning out to be a nice little gun. When I first bought it 6 months ago new, it would jam 1/50 rounds. Way to much for any gun as far as I'm concerned. I've put about 600 rounds through the gun to date including the 200 I shot today. For whatever reason, no jams. 200 rounds and no jams. :dancingbanana: I even tried to induce a jam and couldn't. I'm amazed, but unsure as to what happened with the gun to make it more reliable.

The target was 12? rounds at about 5 meters.

Observation #2.

I have Crimson Trace laser grips on my Sig 229. They work great.

Observation #3.

.357 Sig is a bad ass little cartridge. :) The guy next to me was shooting a Glock 21 and my 229 with the .357 Sig barrel installed sounded like a small nuclear explosion compared to the .45 auto. Granted, I don't shoot it that well, but its fun.

Observation #4.

Of all of my guns, I still like my good old Springfield XD .40 the best. Damn I wish I could get the 4" version. I'd be a happy camper.

Observation #5.

Choosing white paper targets is a horrible choice. I couldn't see where I was hitting - ever. That's the last time I photocopy an image on to regular paper. Colored paper works the best.

Observation #6.

I hope that I never find myself in the typical Hollywood shootout situation. Bad guy has hostage in front of him. Good guy and bad guy both have guns pointed at each other. Unless said bad guy is about 8000 pounds and as wide as a Mack truck, I'm in trouble.

That's all for today folks. I think I'm going to get some books from TSE about how to shoot because I obviously have no idea what I'm doing.

Most of us would never admit to that, but you sure do get a +1 from me. Althought I have been scouring the interweb for some help before I lay down money on books.

Hey Target

Nice reports! If you're looking for some good Mosquito ammo, try Remington Thunderbolts. They go for around $25 per 500. Not the cheapest .22 around, or the most expensive, but it is almost flawless. I get the occasional misfire/jam, but the magazines love them and they are powerful and reliable enough to cycle the action every time. Downside is it's kinda dirty ammo, but cleaning the toys is half the fun!

A bad day at the range is still better than work! I'm still relatively new to pistol shooting myself, and I find that I start losing my gains even after 3 weeks no range. I'll burn through 100 rounds just to get comfy again. Have you tried video taping your shooting session?? I've done a bit of that, and IMHO, it helps. Most of all, have fun. I guess we're the only two people on the internet that can't shoot 1" groups at 50 yards, weak hand, in the dark.:D
