Spanish Shotshells in Canada

I've said this before but it's worth mentioning again. When I decided to shoot vintage guns with short chambers and requiring low pressure levels, I quickly realized these kinds of shells were not always readily available. And seeing as I don't reload, I needed to come up with a solution to that problem. Now, I only occasionally shoot clays or waterfowl. The vast majority of my shooting is upland hunting. So I started buying ammo when I saw it in the right size and load, especially at what seemed a good price. I did it over time so the financial burden was mitigated somewhat. But I now have 1000s of rounds in whatever gauge, load and shotsize I might decide I want to use. I could easily go 5 years without buying anything and not be short. I shoot 4 different gauges and the only one I'm light on is 28 because that is a relatively new gauge for me.

The only solution to the pressure/short chamber issue is inventory.
Another old gun shooter told me much the same thing. When you find it, buy it and buy lots.

Or reload. I load 18.3grs of aa win super handicap in a green rem wad with an Oz of shot in a trimmed and rolled rem gun club hull. Book says 18.5grs makes 6700psi. Im .2 grs less and I'm averaging 1198fps
And probably kill anything hit with it. Sometimes I think people go overboard on the heavy shot charges these days.

Yup. I read about guys seeking 2 1/2” 12ga ammo and then post the price when some is found and wonder “why not load them yourself?”. Seriously, once fired 12ga hulls can be had by the bucket full for free from any shooting range than has shotgun courses, a vintage roll crimper for 12ga are easily sourced and not expensive (as low as $20). Trim the hulls to 2 1/2” and load them up. Depriming and priming is easily done with home made tooling, over shot wads can be punched out of milk cartons with a 3/4” punch, it’s just a matter of choosing powder/shot/wad.

Ya i just cut the crimp off rem gun club hulls with my pocket knife and use a roll crimp bit in a cordless drill
Just have to move the wad guide down lower on my lee load all2 press
I have vintage rollers as well but the drill bit is faster
