Someone tell me if this is a stupid idea but I recently watched a YouTube video of a guy shooting 9mm in his 350 legend cva single shot. It looks like it would be a real hoot and also a pretty versatile truck/atv gun. It would also be a really good trainer for younger kids or anyone recoil shy. My hope would be to shoot the 350 legend accurately to 200 and possibly 9mm to 100. I already have a cva scout in 6.5 cm and am quite happy with it.

I guess one hazard would be creating a carbon ring of firing lots of 9mm but it should be fairly easily cleaned.

I would probably mount a 3 or 5x vortex prism sight.

Tell me if this is a good idea or I should move on.

You're going to have a long jump to the throat with 9mm, so I wouldn't expect amazing accuracy. I would expect velocity to suffer as well due to the gases expanding into the whole 350L chamber before it's pushing the bullet down the bore.

But it sounds like a fun thing to play around with anyways.

Why not give 'er a go? I've done similar in the past with a different caliber, and no problems to speak of. As Suther mentions, accuracy will not be like your normal rounds with a short jump, but you can only know how much if you try. Should take a while to get a carbon ring in any event, regardless of whether you believe the hype or think it's over blown.

And it's a single shot. Not very likely he's gonna chew through hundreds of rounds in an afternoon like one would with a revolver in 357 shooting 38spl etc.

I never had any interest in a 350L but if you can shoot 9mm with one maybe I need to reconsider...

You're right about the velocity loss. The guy on YouTube was getting about 100-200 fps less than his glock with 9mm. He was getting surprisingly ok accuracy with 9mm at what looked to be about 25 yards which I would be happy with. This would also be somewhat of a survival type rifle that would go with me pretty much everywhere when I'm out in the wild. 9mm would be great for porkies and raccoons around camp. In an ideal world it would be suppressed as well. This also kind of scratches the itch I have for a pcc.

Thanks gents. Im doing it. Will report back after elk season.
To be honest, I think your 100 meter goal might be a bit much for the 9mm in the 350L, but will be interesting to see just how much the freebore affects it. Even a 25 to 50 meter goal isn't a bad thing for getting kids used to guns, or for a yard plinker.

Another thing that makes life easier with multi load guns, are scopes with mil-dots or hash marks, and a little bit of Jesus to make them line up lol.
