Neither did the later versions. - danBTW the Mohawk versions didnt come with the rib and front sight. but i agree the ones that came with it looked pretty.

Everyone is welcome to an opinion. You destroyed it!! Where's the vent riband shark fin front sight![]()
This is gorgeous!!!.... i have a Mohawk 600 that I've contemplated doing the exact same thing with. I drool over a 338 Federal
More pictures please!!!!!!
And you did a great job. - danEveryone is welcome to an opinion.
This gun was butchered and (almost?) destroyed when I got it. Also didn’t have any sights or the original vented rib.
I tried to bring some new life to it or at least make it shootable.
That "shark fin front sight" makes it look like a harpoon. Vent ribs are for shotguns, not rifles. You destroyed it!! Where's the vent riband shark fin front sight![]()
Haven’t given it too much thought just yet. I will try 210g NP and people have recommended the 160 and 180 TTSX. Don’t have much experience with mono’s thoughGot anny idea what powder - bullet etc you want to try loading with for it ?
I wouldn't get too invested in premium bullets in a 338Federal. The C&C bullets available would be designed for the 338WM and would probably perform like a premium bullet with the moderate velocities of the 338Fed. That where I'd start.Haven’t given it too much thought just yet. I will try 210g NP and people have recommended the 160 and 180 TTSX. Don’t have much experience with mono’s though
That's exactly what I found when shooting my 338 Federal on game . Premium bullets are nice , but not necessary .I wouldn't get too invested in premium bullets in a 338Federal. I'm not going to use premiums in my 358Winchester when I get it.That's exactly what I found when shooting my 338 Federal on game . Premium bullets are nice , but not necessary .
I have a 358 w . I shot it for the first time last Sunday . I did use Nosler 225 gr partitions in it , only because that's what I had on hand . I'll be picking up a few hundred Speer 220s next week and plan to use those for the most part . I also have the option of getting about one hundred Speer 250 gr bullets off of a buddy if I get the notion to throw heavies at bigger game .I'm not going to use premiums in my 358Winchester when I get it.
Ive used the 160 TTSX over A2230 at around 3000 fps on deer with great resultsHaven’t given it too much thought just yet. I will try 210g NP and people have recommended the 160 and 180 TTSX. Don’t have much experience with mono’s though
I have some Hornady 200gr SPs & RNs and Speer 250s lined up for mine. A few Sierra 225s and Hornady 250 RNs for bbl break in. I couldn't afford to buy NPs and TSXs these days.I have a 358 w . Are you building a 358 win? What action?I'm not going to use premiums in my 358Winchester when I get it.
Nice, that’s moving. Good to know, I’m liking this gun enough I might give the 257 bob some time off and hunt deer with it as well. Be good to have few lighter weight deer options.I’ve shot

That’s a light gun, I’m sure you can feel it.Had a buddy shoot a nice northern BC moose he called in with my .338 Fed in a Kimber Montana with a 2-7 X 33 Leupold in Talleys. 15 yard shot! He put two through the chest and out the far side. 160 gr Barnes TTSX loaded with a book max load of IMR8208. It made the same 2910 fps over the chronograph that the Hodgdon on-line data says it does.....22" long barrel, Lapua .308 cases necked up.
Being a bowhunter, I've never shot anything with the rifle, but carried it on a few arrowed bear blood trails in the thick stuff. It also went on a couple of meat packing trips back to a caribou carcass in grizzly country.
The 5# 2oz Kimber rifle...5# 13Oz with scope and mounts did wreck the Leupold 2-7X scope to where it would not hold zero after maybe 100 rounds fired. I haven't remounted it since its return from Leupold for service. Little rifle is "lively" on the bench and not my favorite to shoot....especially with 200 grain bullets....luckily the 160 Barnes are way more accurate in the Kimber.
