Start of Moose Season

We were out for 3 days last weekend, went up river for 60km found a good camp and stayed there, calling, glassing etc, we also went up an additional 10km to go explore the entrance of an other river but no success, didn’t hear nothing, saw a few tracks but that is all!
Leaving again on Monday with some friends and hope it will be successful!

Beautiful set up. I had no luck in Quebec after a week non stop. Wonder if it's just a bad year

Lots of people last week here w/o moose, two of my friends two different trips fly in fly out no moose, one 84 years old friend 2 weeks ago got a moose all by him self… and last night my BIL went out after school(teacher) drove 2hrs out of town to a lake and he was back before lunch today with his moose.
I’m leaving on Monday for a 5 day trip fingers crossed 🤞 that we at least see something !

What part of the YT you gonna hunt Bud ?

I’m in a northern Manitoba moose camp checking in on cgn thanks to Elon. Last week was pretty good, moose were talking and hunters were happy. This week starting out a bit more challenging, two of a moose guides biggest nemesis showed up, wind and wolves.

Spent 4 days at the family cabin in northern Ontario with my oldest son. Got lucky the first evening and he harvested a bull with 15 minutes of shooting light left. Spent the rest of the evening skinning and quartering before lugging the quarters to the road. A quick trip to town to get him in a cooler and we were back to the cabin with the pressure off. Lounged around for the day shooting some birds for camp meat before I decided I’d like to fill my bear tag since there are an abundance in the area. Went for a walk for the last two hours of light and found this boar feeding his way through a cutover. Snuck into range and shot him quartering away at about 50 yards. He made it 10-15 yards before piling up. Both animals are at the butcher and the bear hide is being tanned.

Great hunt! Sometimes it just happens all at once. Best time spent with the Boys. Thanks for the update!

It’s call hunting not killing I guess! One thing for sure is it is getting really busy in the bush up here, lots more people hunting! Harder and harder to find good spots where people can’t access easily!
Yes it IS ! Even the Yukon gets busy and with its lack of Backwoods Roads it hard up there ! (y)

Flying out of Thompson mb tomorrow on a 3 week guiding gig. My favourite use of vacation time, most prefer to be just another fat gringo at the swim up bar.
Was up there last year, flew out of Thompson on Wings about 45 min north. Absaloutley gorgeous country up there. Hope to get back up there next year again.
