Budget 10/22 improvements

I have a basic 10/22, and I want to slightly improve it. My goal is to keep it within the kids-friendly size and weight, but make it better for bench shooting at 50-100, and some off-hand too. I don't want to spend several K on it

So far, I replaced the extractor (wasn't cycling well) and got a cheap Vortex Crossfire. If I have $500-700, what else should I get?
I'm thinking about the KRG Bravo chassis (short pull, looks good) and some trigger?
 
Trigger and barrel, is what you’ll see the most improvement for accuracy with.

But be aware, that most factory 10/22 barrels you won't see any less than 2inch at 100.

BX-25 triggers are nice but they can vary a bit so try out several in store ( can safely dry fire them in the package) to see which feels best to you.

Factory barrel within 100 yards is no problem at all, work on all of your fundamentals of shooting with it and then consider upgrading down the road.

1 inch is do able at 50 with even factory target lite barrel. Bedding the stock helps as the action can rock in the stock due to the single action bolt. I got guns more accurate than my 10/22 so I gave up trying to make it more accurate.

My BX Trigger is about 2.5-3#.
 
BX trigger is a great upgrade,

AXIOM Blackhawk Stock, lite weight and adjustable for kids ,

Scope with an adjustable objective, allows you to focus properly at all ranges from 25 to 100 yards.

Additional magazines, look for the 3 pack.

Ammunition try as many different brands as possible. I like CCI Blazer and CCI Standard Velocity

Then look at Shaw or Green Mountain Barrels . They offer factory contour to reduce weight vs bull barrels

Maybe not a CZ following their alleged and suitably unexplained involvement in the confiscation/destruction - try a tikka instead!

For the 10/22, bedding the action in the stock best and cheapest upgrade available.
Bx trigger, auto bolt release, new recoil buffer. New barrel if you’ve got the money.
 
For half the cost of a BX trigger you can install the Volquartsen Target Hammer. My 10/22 trigger pull is much nicer with the target hammer than friends with the BX.
 
The trigger is the first thing to spend money on. The factory trigger is capable of a crisp 2 pounds altered by a competent smith. 20 years ago I was charging $75 to do that. Today there are quality replacement triggers.
 
If you have the skills and some patience, you can do your own trigger job and also modify the bolt hold. You can check the barrel crown, see if it looks perfect. Possibly bed the barrel. All those are DIY jobs for cheap.
