Milsurps going to auction

You should probably start a thread in the milsurps section, it is a very interesting and under researched area.

In the last couple of years, new information has come to light regarding some H.G. units not previously thought to have existed. Several smaller units raised during the 1914-1915 hype quickly fizzled out thereafter.

It would be neat to see what is out there.
Theres a pile more research I’m doing than just the HG serials as well. I’ve also ‘discovered’ or ‘proven’ another new model that was unknown previously. It may have never gotten past trials, but there’s one in my safe.

There are a few collectors who are sensitive about their info being made public, and for that reason I’ve kept it all private. But, it doesn’t hurt to ask for permission, so I will do that and if they’re all cool with it I will make a thread and post it. Bear with me, could take me a bit of time to get permissions…

The Miller & Miller auction is the 25th. Quite the assortment of military rifles, plus a number of antiques. If you haven't had a look at this sale, it is worth your time to do so.

Watching the Miller & Miller one live, definitely some deals to be had, some are going for 1/2 to 1/3 the estimate. Looks to be their first firearms auction from what I can see, perhaps not well enough advertised, also %18 buyers premium doesn't help.
There have been some good buys.
M&M sold the late Don Blythe's collection of exceptional antique firearms. Prices were very strong.

Oops, missed that one when skimming through their past auction results. The antique S&W's did quite well.
Regarding today's auction, I left a half dozen reserve bids that I thought were on the low side, I've won 3 lots so far, hope I don't win any more or it's going to be an expensive weekend.

I believe it got up to 9k.
I thought 10, but well below the estimate of 16k+, which was probably the reserve. A matching Brit sniper 4T full kit also sold for 6k, well under what people are asking in the EE.

I picked up a TS carcano for well below typical cgn pricing at today’s auction, so happy with that. Some Greek carcano and Brit no.4 rifles also sold well below CGN typical levels.

It was a decent day for some buyers.

I was an expensive weekend for me but some items just don't come up very often.
I bought the Swedish M96 infantry rifle with bayonet and scabbard for $700 plus buyers premium and sales tax. I think the prices were excellent on many of the milsurps considering the better than average condition they were in and the fact so many came with the bayonet and scabbard.

I bit on that one too, sorry :)

I won the Swedish m38 with bayonet, seems to be in excellent condition, for $650.00 +18%+13% = %$866.71
and
the Swedish Mauser Model 1896 FSR Volunteer Shooting Association Rifle for $500.00. From the pictures it looks excellent.
