Scope starting point , hunting 308. Recommendations

Japanese Bushnell? That's the one to use.
Philippines Burris next.
Chinese Vortex ones, forget them.
The Weaver if USA made, is a decent rimfire scope, not much magnification at 3x, I wouldn't throw it on a center fire unless it was a canned hunt or heavy heavy bush.

Ill check it might be from Japan, I have an old 3-9 bell scope made in Japan is that any goods?

I have one of those Weavers (assuming the Classic/made in Japan version), it's a handy little scope, mine sits on a CVA Scout 45-70, they seem to have a good reputation for a tough bush scope. I'm sure it would work fine but not be a great match for a CTR

I'd probably choose the Burris for the season.

Like others have said, you could sell a few of those if you're not using them and buy something we'll suited

Another vote for selling your surplus scopes and buying a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x. The 1.5-5x is also a great option for hunting at to 300 yards. And buying either of those Leupolds used still gets you a lifetime warranty at a very attractive price point.

Anything that helps your eyes identify the deer...personally i use a 3-9×40 leupild freedom on my 20" 308 CTR.

Amazing rifle regardless of the scope you use. Ive taken my combination out to 400, 700, and 1000 yards. The 1k marks was stupid hard, 500 and in you're just plain hitting it.

No way! What ammo does it like? Looking at leupolds now. I didn't think I could shoot that far with it. Need practice I guess

You don’t need more than 10x for hunting in Alberta, and I wouldn’t trust any thing by Vortex if I’m hunting, so maybe the Burris, or the Bushnell, but frankly just sell some of the others and get a Leupold……
YUP ... or you could sell a kidney & get a Schmidt & Bender

I have had a few Leupolds, Kahles, Zeiss, Buschnell and thought they are overrated. In the meantime most of my rifles have Schmidt Bender. The favourite for allround hunting to around 500yds would be the 3-12x50 Zenith flash dot. Mine has precision hunter turrets in elevation and windage.
In the meantime it moved on my friends CTR.... he loves it. Yes expensive, but worth it. Bit of overtime.....

For that range session i was just using 175gr federal gold medal match...for hunting i just re-zero with my handloads, or a quick and dirty zero with 165 federal fusion.
