Who has the 14" and installed the QD mount on the adjustable stock. I see there is a cut out on both sides but needs to be drilled out. Thinking the magpul type 1 and 2

let me know what you guys have done,

thanks

I installed a Grovtec Hollow Stock Push Button Base in mine, not where your referring to, but further up.

It always puzzled me why they didn’t have the quick detach piece in there from factory, I mean they were 99% there so why not put it in?

I've done it, and it doesn't really work properly....

IIRC the holes are too small for an actual QD cup to fit, so you need to drill them out in diameter. (EDIT - I think they are actually made for the standard sling studs, not QD studs) Then, the stock is hollow between the two points so I used a couple steel washers to sammich in between the 2. You can get a small nut in there, but if you wanted to go ambi like i did, it just squashed the stock together, hence the washers...

After all that, they are mounted so low that it makes the shotgun want to torque and not lay flat against your body, if you're going through brush and stuff it's really easy for the shotgun to flop around and end up upside down. I use a Vtac sling so it can sinch up, but it still had issues.

I ended up going the same way as Grain did, and used the Grovtech QD flush mounts mounted more midline in the stock, and they work really well. Just drill a hole (like 1/2" I think) and they slip through and the big nut fastens inside.

Ignore the shell carrier mod, that was another project....

Are these limited rotational cups? If so, does the sling try to torque them clockwise or counterclockwise loosening them with use? I've used Grovetek in wood stocks and epoxied them rock solid, but a hollow stock, idk?

They are NOT limited rotation, so your sling can rotate around if you're not careful. (the same way as the Magpul types) But it does eliminate them from loosening up with use. They have a big hex nut drive through the base so you can apply a good amount of torque to them. I used some loctite just to be sure.

If you want limited rotation, Noveske makes a similar item, it comes with a big dab of thread locker on the screw, however the Grovtec ones are a lot stronger, and the noveske ones have a habbit of breaking the little flange that sits on the outside...

TY, and any heat shield info would be helpful. I'm looking for something for my Beretta. Something c0cksolid.

No problemo

I got the heat shield from Slade Street Tactical (out of the US), was about 80 bucks CDN shipped. Definitely the cheapest I've seen a steel heat shield go for these days, I still remember when they were 50 bucks for a Mossberg parkerized shield... (not even that long ago)

They have a bunch of polymer and steel models, so you might be able to find something for a Beretta. I put a Mossberg heat shield on my Benelli M4, and just needed to trim the handguards down a bit, so depending on what shotgun you have you might be able to get something to fit????
