I know..... and there is no reason for it that I can see.
It's as if someone in the supply chain is jacking the price and making huge profit but who knows. I haven't looked to see what they sell for in the states these days but when they first came out they were under a grand canadian and in a dozen years they have more than doubled in price at retail.

edit...... looked up the USD MSRP on these and was kinda blown away. So the high price is being pushed by Ruger themselves. I wonder how they justify it??

The Mauser action requires a lot of machine time and hand fitting. Unlike their American line, which is much easier to produce.

I know but still, when they came out they were under a grand for some models and just over a grand for others. That's Canadian pricing too but I guess it is what it is. I would buy one at today's prices if it came in 338federal but sadly that won't happen so if I want a scout type rifle similar to the gunsite, it's a custom build on a different action.
I like the OP's set up though.... not sure the stock color and action color really work together for me personally but I do like the finish on the stock. Looks great.
 
Had one in 450BM, easily one of my favourite rifles ever, definitely one that got away. Love the traditional scope mounting too. As neat as long eye relief was, I could never make it feel natural or practical.
 
Nice. I just purchased one and am trying to decide if I want to go with a scout scope (Leupold scout) or slap on a xs full rail and then put a traditional scope....I have been reading a lot of reviews on line and it seems some love the xs rail and some hate it.....sometimes the internet reviews dont help much lol.
I have a scout scope on my 3030 already and like it quite a bit, so I am leaning towards getting another for this rifle as my shots are all under 200 meters anyway.

Get a Steyr Scout, I thought of getting the Ruger but the Steyr has better accuracy and just a cooler rifle. IMHO No offensive to the op:)
 
I’m unsure why people gravitate towards metal mags as superior. The 77 is a CRF action. Knowing this, the plastic mags allow you to top-load the mag whilst still in the action like a traditional Mauser. That way when you pop in a loose round you won’t have to forcibly jam the claw over the cartridge rim to get the round into battery.

Maybe I’ve been using CRFs wrong. Idk.
 
The synthetic stock Ruger GSR are a lot lighter, also they come with a thread protector and a muzzle break, however very expensive now

Nice build! I dropped a little 5 point whitetail with mine this fall. Mine is pretty much stock but now you're making me think about upgrades 🤔
 
Very nice. You should looking to get a McMillan game scout for Ruger gunsite Scout. It would look best and feel better than OEM plastic stock.

I'm a hoader and I still have 3 of those scout in my closet. One is still new in box with walnut stock. I wish I had bought more while they are cheap.

Ive definitely considered it for a future upgrade!
