Evaluating your rifle on EE

I posted a WTB for a factory T3 buttplate on THE other buy and sell site. I got lowballed with an offer to trade two sets of Warne rings I had listed for his take off T3 buttplate. I politely declined and blocked him toot sweet after he tried to make it sound like he was doing me a favour. <eye roll>

Update on that ...... I got an offer last night for a free T3 butt pad for the price of the postage. There's still a lot of good guys out there. :)

If it wasn't for buying and selling on the EE and Gunpoṣt Id have never been able totry out so many different guns, calibers and optics.

Having said that, buying and selling now seems like a chore and is not anywhere near the mostly pleasant experience it was just a short 3 or 4 years ago.

One other thing that happens on the EE is people that keep bumping there adds asking to be removed in there bumps 🤔🙄🤣. It just shows how people don’t give a damn #### about how things should be done so it make life easier for the admins…

I’m not saying I’m doing it now, but in the past I’ve promised my wife I would list some to offset new rifles coming home, and as a faithful man I like to be honest and true to her, so I do list a rifle or two. Probably priced too high but what it was worth to me to part with, because I never promised how long it would take to sell, just that I would try. Marriage is a subtle court.

Some people don't actually want to sell the things they list, let's not forget that. I also don't get the offense taken with low ball offers, how thin skinned do you have to be to be offended by a low offer? Even if it falls short, the offer often reflects the perceived value to the person offering. Right or wrong.

If you're tight on $ or trying to buy something time-sensitive=potential buyers like that can seem a bit tedious, I get that. I've been schooled myself on items I knew were worth more but the market was soft. I've made mistakes, I've been THAT guy.

As someone else said-I'm getting out of the used buy&sell a bit too, scaling down a bit maybe but more prioritizing. Market isn't what it even was 3-4 years ago (Agree on that too) and most of the fun has been zapped out of it. Buying new more these days, just ordered a charging handle this morning.

Just think how pleasant it was 2 decades ago!

It’s all part of the game. Don’t want to haggle or deal with people. Go to a pawn shop.
Most times. I’ve noticed those lowballers will come back.

A while back I made an offer on a rifle…the guy came back and said yes…only then did I realize I’d actually really lowballed him by mistake (yes, a genuine mistake)…I must admit I was very pleased that I’d bought a fantastic piece for a bargain price!

I had new STI 2011 mags for sale for over a year. Completely forgot about it until a guy came up and purchased them at asking price. If it does not sell it does not mean it is junk or overpriced. It just means the guy that need it is not rooming CGN.

I had items - guns not selling on CGN that were sold in two days on another site. What does it mean ? CGN user are cheapo ? I don’t think so..it is just it does not appeal to the crowd looking at the add at that time. The guns owners are not all living or gathering on CGN either. There is plenty of guns owners on other site too. Thats it.

I look at the title, then at how many times an ad has been bumped. If it's been bumped more than a couple times then I know I looked at it before and wasn't interested then, so I don't bother looking again.

Some of the comments are great, some interesting:

Not looking at anything bumped more that twice: Like Janeau said about their mags, sometimes it's the right person looking for that right thing at the right time. I get it for the generic Savage Axis rifle, but some other things just need the right buyer.

Mostly when I list something it seems like it sells immediately (always a reseller to make a buck - I see my gun/item as a new EE ad as that 300% over retail listing), the vast majority sell after the first bump with a reasonable offer, of a few sell into the 4th, 5th or more bumps to someone who usually says something like 'I just randomly checked that forum and I'm glad I did!'

The EE is its own social entity that I believe might be past its prime, but still has its uses.

I have a few blocked on here but that's for actual negative experiences when dealing with them on sale or trade. Getting the lowballs is part of having something listed.
There's another site I use where I avoid anything posted by one individual not because he has unfair prices or bad items. simply because I met him in person at a gunshow and he acted like he sucked on lemons for a living. spotted him a year later and he had gotten worse now acts like he drinks vinegar.

On thr rare occassion I’ve pulled an ee ad thinking the season’in izz wrong.
Lister later and pewf, yew still gartzs thet thar ker-pow?

Funny fruck’in buzzieniss that ee is.

I just stumbled onto an ad that was first posted over 2 years ago and has been bumped 99x

Fellow is persistent if nothing else. But I guess hope is the last thing to die.

At least you Bought it! I recently had someone, message me an offer- they asked would you take $###, shipped to xyz, -lower than my listed price- I said sure, I will, let's do that. Then, they Ghosted me. I politely messaged them back the next day {after seeing they've been on}, & said, What's up?
If something has changed, plz let me know asap, {I had switched it to it spf} as per common courtesy.

A day goes by again, they've been on, but still can't even just message me to re-confirm or to say No, sorry, they changed their mind.
Nope-nothing-
So I messaged them & basically got snippy lol Mehh~ got their attention though - f.n ghostin'/flakers +
I Don't care if you changed your mind- JUST SAY SO ffs!

*Can you leave them a 'Neutral' feedback{warning} for that scenario?

A lot over priced stuff is put and the seller is just too stubborn to drop the price. I friend was recently looking for a 22 on GP. He ended up buying new as the Marlin he wanted was the same price as cabelas price. I had reloading gear listed for 3 months and no hits. Put it back and nothing for a week. Then it started. Everything sold in 4 days except for a new set of 30-06 dies. The right people have to see stuff.
Some people wait for that one sucker. One guy on NS GP has multiple swap trades up. Same stuff over 2 years. Over valuing their stuff. Some people never clue in.

I use to get a lot of that on GP. Seems to have stopped. The trade rating is a no go. Deal didn’t actually happened. Supposed to be given after the deal.

Yep…that’s happened to me several times. GP mainly.
