Scope for 300 wsm

I run a FX-3 6x42 with the LR duplex reticle. With a 200 yard zero the next three aiming points are approximately 300, 400 and 500 yards. Fast and simple. You don’t need big magnification, complicated reticle, FFP, etc. I have those scopes but for other applications.

IMO and that is just that, my own opinion, stay away from complicated scopes and high magnification scopes, like busy reticles, big external turrets, heavy and bulky scopes. KISS is the way to go for hunting scopes! Target dedicated scope can be different!
Anyway I’m a big fan of Leupold scope because they are, in my experience anyway, reliable and light weight compared to most other brand. My favorite one are 2.5-8 by far, but a 3.5-10 is ok too and still quite light!
I agree on all points .... For a newer shooter, it's best to keep things simple. I don't have a lot of BG rifles any more but the Leupold 2.5-8 (have 3) and 3.5-10 (have 1) are the two I use the most.

Without knowing more specifics from the OP, it's hard to give a defined answer.

Between the wife and I, we have 6 of the Leupold 2.5-8 mounted on rifles chambered in 250 Savage, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser, 7mm-08, and 338 Federal. And all but one have the B&C reticle (on my wife's 250 Savage) in the event the target is out at 3-400 yards. Great scopes!
I also have 5 of the 3.5-10s mounted on rifles chambered in 280 Rem, 308 Win, the 300 WSM mentioned above, and 338-06, and a spare that came off of a 338 Federal that now has a VX-6HD 2-12x42 illum. B&C reticle. All that were duplex have been switched out to the B&C reticle. One of my favourite scopes for all around use!
