Empty shotgun shells

Depends on what brand
“Premium” target hulls Winchester AA and the like maybe worth something
Most 20g shells are pretty inexpensive.
Now 16, 28, .410 save them all

Most skeet and sporting clays fields throw out barrels of 12 and 20 gauge hulls. The only ones that most people want are premium hulls like AA STS, Gold Medal. 28 and 410 are another matter, someone usually takes whatever there are.

Contrary to a post above - certainly at 10 cents per empty 28 gauge hull, there does not appear to be any interest on CGN. I have had circa 2150 of them posted for sale in an ad on CGN since July 30, this year - no interest shown, at all. Not even an offer at a lesser price. However, I am "old fart" - empty shell casings look too good to me to throw away, and I have room to stow stuff. Finding it again is another matter, or remembering what got put away - as the NAPA store guy said - when you get this home, you will find the one that you bought last week - and I did - when I went to put the "new" purchase away - it ended up right beside the one I had got the previous week.

I sometimes take bags of fired hulls to gun shows and give them away. I hate throwing away hulls.
We have two large hoppers at the skeet range, when they fill up, we fill large garbage bags with them, and they get tossed, because nobody wants them. If we didn't throw them out, we would be overrun with them.

I’m an odd one that will reload about anything. But the cheaper hulls I usually shoot myself and keep. But Remington gub clubs and or target hills Winchester AA’s and federal gold medal are the main ones. Challanger and score are cheddite. I have a huge bag of 20ga and don’t even own a 20ga a lot of AA in there rest are mainly old IVI.

I hate throwing stuff out that are usable. I have more than a lifetime supply of shotshell cases. About 6 years ago I found over 400 Gold Metal 12 ga in a gravel pit, skeet shooters had left a mess. I already had a few hundred. I ended up giving some away and am slowly using the rest. I use that case for my slug loads. The cheaper cases I now leave on the ground. I have lots of win AA, HS ,Gold Metal and Remington STS cases.
Not many are getting into shotgun loading anymore due do store bought being so cheap. I still load birdshot loads as I bought components years ago and still have lots and have the presses. Most of my loading is slug and buckshot due to the high cost at the stores.

At our trap / skeet club the empties are thrown in a couple plastic 45 gal drums, the reloaders are welcome to take whatever they want, once the drums are full they get dumped and disposed of. I shoot a lot of AA, nitro and STS in competition during the summer months and I save all those hulls, most of them get given away, I cannot bring myself to throw them away even though I don't reload anymore. I find that we can buy factory loads in bulk through the gun club just as cheap as reloading.

Maybe I’m a horder but I feel the same way. I always say one day I will use them up. Cheaper hulls/unknowns get used for black powder. But I don’t mind top guns and have a use for the base wads after their junk. Shotshell reloading prices are sky rocketed unless loading slugs(home cast store bought not worth it) buck or specialty stuff not really worth it. Even bismuth you can buy about the same as it would cost to load a box.

Thanks everyone. I just noticed the replies now because it wasn't showing on my notifications.

So I guess I'll look at the ammo box to see if they are premium, which they are probably not. Also, 20ga empty hulls aren't really good besides giving them away if someone wants them.

I head to Windsor sometimes, I can give you empty shells if you want them, PM me. I save most of them, don't reload, just never want to throw out. Mix of challenger, winchester, federal, ect. mostly 3".
