Took a walk to the back field while the wife was cooking dinner.
Saw a doe about 200 yards away, being my first year with a doe tag I was tempted but saw two younger deer with her so I held off. As I slowly crept up I spotted this guy about 220 yards away, took a lay down in the snow and waited about 15 minutes for him to turn then took my shot. Nice 8 pointer.

Mucho respecto on holding off on the mama deer 😜

Karma payed off in that nice buck.

👍🏻🙂

Got this nice guy on Day 3 of my 2 week hunt when there was less than 5 minutes of legal shooting light left. It had rained all day, was crappy cold and damp but pushed myself to hit the stand for the last part of the day. Wanted to pack it in and get out of my stand but just kept sitting and then saw white that wasn't there a moment before.

Took him with my Winchester .223 and a Nosler 60 Grain BT Sptizer at about 45 yards. Hit the heart and lungs and he still ran about 50 yards. Wouldn't have found him as quick if it weren't for my DeWALT 20V flashlights, they lit up the bush. 💡🔦

Great weather as the freezing temps overnight really aided in the processing. I don't think the meat temperature got above -1C. Great time at camp this year! Congrats everyone and great to see the kids out there!

After a few years of letting priority build I decided to draw for antlered moose. Day 3 of our rifle season tag was filled. Have to say it fills a freezer quicker than shooting geese but it it is NOWHERE near as fun as waterfowling. Cleaned it using the gutless method. Put all the quarters and meat in cheesecloth bags, placed one bag at at time on a pack frame, carried them to the quad and loaded them into the trailer then hauled it back to the trucks.

oops, i did it again ;)
edit to add.....
Let my "student" hunter take the shot that is. This is the second real nice buck this season that I've passed on to give up the shot to a new hunter.
Found this guy's rut scrapes and other markings so set up an ambush hide with a makeshift ground blind of forest debris. 4 days later and while out with a new female hunter, this guy stepped out of the thick stuff into the open forest. I nudged my hunting companion and didn't raise my rifle. She didn't hesitate and took it with one shot at about 60 yards. Was a downhill shot with a savage package rifle in 243 and the exit was low but still did the job. It jumped when it was hit, hopped away a few yards and then piled up. Her first hunting season and she has been extemely dedicated though hadn't filled a tag all season. So this was just reward for all that hard work and dedication. ;)

Damn you guys that go out at the back door before supper and get a deer comme back home for supper 🙄 I wish that would happen to me…. My brother in law is like that, went out for moose, leave town after work on Friday get to the lake, boat in the water did a little tour and bam moose in front of them… back the nest morning! Then leave a Friday morning with some friends, unload the skidoos ride a little bam bison ahead they #### 2, back home the early the next morning… mean while me I leave for 3 days with the wife for moose… nothing! Then I leave for five days with friends, people shoot moose in the same area( within 5-8kms) come back home nothing, go look for bison twice driving a few hundreds kms nothing not even a sign/track/poop!! Going back to look for bison next week, 🤞🤞it will be my turn 😂

This isn't a common occurrence here, I live where I hunt so I know what's wondering around, but very rarely see them randomly during a 5 minute walk, lol. Pure dumb luck this year.
