Chiappa LA322 Bandit Boot Leg .22lr 12" Non-Restricted

I dont know Hitz, that looks fricken cool
Functionally... definitely an improvement lol.
I'm too much of a traditionalist thou, so I have to use this booty bandit as she is, I like a challenge, it's very unnatural holding a rifle with 2 hands and no butt stock I'll admit.
I'm pretty sure I can work with it, hoping it's useful to 50m, but I'll settle for 25m lol.

In all seriousness...
Chiappa needs to offer a large loop lever for these.

The best option for a stocked booty bandit would be to trim it down until the aesthetic balance of the gun and the utility of the stock are in harmony.
How did Diddy' get into this convo? :p What's with all this 'stock talk'..everyone's all loving the little rounded pistol grip, the whole Appeal/draw of this model, but right away have to change it / 'Ad' a full size stock..lol

The fact Canucks can put a stock on without paying a tax like our Yankee cousins might be part of it... :)
I think some 3d printers will also be firing up and reporting for Booty duty.... :D

Funnest nonsense gun I have shot in some time - and I’ve shot a few. lol. Might even get another. By the way. I’m not technical and can’t figure it out - can someone send me or post a reply with a pic of the FRT for this Booty so I can have it handy if/when a LEO is ever trying to figure out if in legal. Cheap insurance to have it handy!

Got mine in the mail this morn. Took it out this afternoon. It shoots good. Cycles and ejects as it should. Got a good rest and was able to hit what I was aiming at. Was right on for windage, elevation was a tad high. Feels cheap but works as it should. Not bad for a $360 gun new out of the box.

Mine arrived today as well, what Hitzy said about the resistance cycling the action with the hammer down is noticeable otherwise it cycles pretty smoothly, Trigger is not to bad. I've never seen a muzzle quite like this one, the rifling stops 1/4" shy of the end of the barrel and almost looks like a barrel liner. I shot a quick 5 rounds of cci quiets from 20' and the first three went into one hole 4th a bit off and the 5th looked like a flyer but it could have been me as the sights are a bit crude and my target was not ideal..... looks promising for accuracy!

I'm probably going to remove the sights all together and just run a micro red dot on it. There are some sharp edges on the mag tube that I will be smoothing out and I have some ideas in mind for a makeshift stock that should be pretty easy to work out.... :)

I grabbed a dowel I had near to try and gauge the length needed and just holding the dowel pinched by my front hand and running along the side of the receiver made a pretty good makeshift stock!

Got my order in today and they seem very solid. Not super stiff but they will definitely need a good clean and lubing. If you a person with large hands as I am, the bootleg will be very comfortable when held fully extended.

It's hilariously short and everything I hold it, I'm just reminded of Trevor from Trailer Park Boys when he says 'But Julian, this is a Pirates gun" XD.

Couldn't go wrong with this purchase.

I broke out the dremmel and de tuned the sharp edges around the end of the magtube and the bullet cutout with some diamon burrs then used the same to thin out the rather crude front sight. It now has a pretty decent bead wich I prefer. loosing the hood improved the front sight picture as well for me.
The hood is kind of pointless given that the front sight is fixed and integral to the barrel band..... not like it's going to get knocked loose!

Then I opened up the notch a bit on the rear sight and rounded it to match the front bead.
Since I was hitting a bit right of point of aim, I loosened the set screw on the rear sight and drifted it a bit to the left. After moving it a little to the left and re tightening the tiny set screw my rear sight now has a fair bit of play in it. The rear sight set up is not that impressive.... I've got a pretty low rimfire groove peep sight that I can try, it will be a bonus if it works with the front sight but I see a micro red dot as the only sight needed.

I found a couple of good off hand holds that stabilize the rear of the grip nicely and see no need for a traditional butt stock.
One hold is a push (fore grip) Pull (pistol grip) with the rear of the birds head touching against the cheek/jaw similar to an archery pull and release position. This hold will be made easier with a QD sling cup embedded into the back of the birds head and a bungee sling attached.

I'm going to place the sling cup so It's inline with where I'd want a stock to connect with my chest and then rig a shaft to a QD socket for a takedown stock..... :)
A short branch or other similar object can be used as a make shift brace that gives good stability as well.

The other hold I found stable was similar to this guys position, but with the front hand coming around the back of the birds head and pulling it forward... it all tucked in rather nicely and was quite stable. The trigger breaks pretty clean but it's a bit heavy and could loose a bit of weight.

This is going to be a great grouse blaster!
