Chiappa LA322 Bandit Boot Leg .22lr 12" Non-Restricted

Picked up my two at the post office. I’m presently surprised at the quality. I went out the back door and fired off some rounds. Cycles nice. Didn’t shoot for groups because it’s dark already.

Glad I bought two. Very cool guns.

The profile of the top of the receiver is a but higher then a typical .22lr 3/8" dovetail and some peeps and adapters won't clear the hump and engage the dovetail correctly. Nothing a file won't fix.... :) The beauty of a cheap gun like this is you don't have to sweat too much taking a dremel and file to it! The finish on the gun is so cheap that anything from a sharpie to a squirt from a rattle can will look like it's"factory"

Another thing I noticed is the rear sight drifts out to the left when looking down the barrel and goes in from the left side towards the right.
Again not typical.

It will not run .22 short at all.

That’s okay. It was worth a shot.

Does anyone know where to find the FRT for this? I tried armalytics but was unsuccessful.

It’s so small, I want that 8.5X11 paper that covers my butt perfectly.

I ordered this little thing back when they were first announced, and was a bit disappointed with the delay; I was concerned that I had been suckered into a pre-order, i.e. something which I avoid like the plague. Previous orders with SFRC have always gone smoothly for me, but this one was worrisome.

No need for concern. Before the gun even arrived, I received a refund in the amount that I would have saved had I waited for the sale, although I never even requested it. Between that and the free shipping, this gun was in my hands for around $370. Kudos to SFRC for handling this so well, I am impressed.

My new toy arrived at the beginning of this week, but I've been out hunting all day every day so it sat unfired. Finally, last night, after coming in and warming up, I couldn't resist and took the freshly-cleaned gun out on the back porch and fired a magazine full of high speed loads at a .22 plastic "gong" I have at 25 yards in my yard. Shooting only by the glow of my Sentinel light, I put 7 hits out of 9 shots (a full magazine) on the little rubberized gopher. The sights are coarse but the front and rear are well-matched to one another and properly sized for me with the gun held in front of me, as if it actually had a stock. It took two shots to find the hold needed, which was dead centre and on the bottom edge of the gopher, after which it just kept swinging; I never needed to touch the sights. Trigger was surprisingly crisp and shootable, and especially so for a sub-$400 cheapo gun. Cycling was a tad stiff, but nothing that can't be cured with a few bricks of ammo downrange. Feeding, firing, ejection were all perfect right from the first round. I was interested to see that the cut-out on the loading tube is sized for .22WMR ammo, perhaps a sign of things to come?

As much as I like my .44mag Mare's Legs with a full-length stock in place, I wouldn't even consider doing that to this one. Firstly, the clublike pistol grip is much more compact than the rather useless "half-length buttstock" on the centerfire guns, making this much cooler and thus more fun. And second, well...it's a .22! I may eventually smoke a backyard critter or two with it for gits'n'shiggles, but generally speaking it'll just be shot for casual fun plinking. I'm looking forward to that.

I will definitely try this out with a small red dot sight, and might even leave that on as the primary sight if it works as well as I think it should. Or maybe even a laser. Or maybe both! I'm also looking forward to shooting it held at arm's length, both two-handed and single-handed, like an actual...you know...handgun.

SSSHHHHHHHH, let's keep quiet about that.

I agree Jjohn, a combo laser light would be a great addition along with the red dot.
I also noticed the extra large loading port..... :)

Looks like the boys were having some fun.... :)

Kind of funny that the one guy that was complementing the sights didn't even seem to be using them when he was blasting away.... :)

They called them "target sights" but I'd call them typical lever action semi-buckhorn sights with a square non adjustable front post.

They also called the wood walnut but walnut stained hard wood (beach?) is more accurate.... speaking of accuracy it's too bad they didn't show 9 rounds of attempted accurate slow fire shooting and group size.... but clearly they were "having fun"!

Vern also refereed to the rimfire dovetail rail as being a weaver rail, not sure what the exact spec on the rail is but anyone attempting to mount weaver rings on to it will be disappointed to find out they won't fit.

The grooved receiver needs a rimfire to weaver/pic rail adapter to run weaver or picatinny type rings.
