Here are a few pics of mine. Glad I brought it out. Just looking down the barrels is nice. Had it for a lot of years.No engraving is a choice, not proof of a lower grade or an indication of personal use. Some prefer their guns less adorned, and some of the finest guns ever made have little or no engraving, if the client wished it. Yes, some cost is saved, but sometimes less engraving shows off other aspects of the gun even better. I wouldn't be put off by a 'plain' gun, if, as Canvasback says, the quality is there. And little or no engraving is much better than bad engraving.
Here is a very plain Belgian double, but the essential quality is there. Its simple attributes contributed to its low selling price, less than a trip to the supermarket these days. Better still, the lack of embellishment meant no one snapped it up before I did.

Got my first coach gun 2 days ago. Nothing fancy just a Baikal mp 43 kh with exposed hammer and fixed cylinder bores. I disabled the auto safety not needed on external hammer shotgun so the safety still work manually.
Well, early Black Friday sale at the local store and the weakness hit me I fell for this wonderful piece and it was marked down so gave into my inner self and it came home with me aahh I have a underlying weak character

Ok fellow CGN'rs I can finally post this. It was a long anticipated await as this made it's way from the seller/exporter, then through Customs and finally the importer, Prophet River and on to me as I was finally able to pick it up.
This one came out of Georgia from a fellow who posted it for sale on the Parker Gun Collectors Forum. His pictures did not do it justice and it is everything he said it is...
This is a 100% original untouched 1957 Ithaca 4E Knick SBT, 34" full choke, it still wears the factory original Ithaca bridge trestle(starburst) recoil pad and carries the factory raybar sight first introduced in 1955.

I picked up this Ithaca Flues 16ga through an online auction. It was advertised as a Grade 1 1/2 but the "engraving" of the dog on each side with bordering instead of large hand engraved floral pattern had me convinced it was a Grade 1. The water table is stamped 1 1/2, 16 on the left side and PATD on the right. The rear of the barrel lug is also stamped with a number 7 on top above an S & 1 1/2 on bottom leading me to believe it is in fact a 1 1/2 Grade. All serial #'s match throughout.
The gun was advertised as 30" Krupp Fluid Steel barrels with 2 3/4" chambers and IC/F chokes which I cannot confirm until mic'd as I cannot find any choke or chamber length stamps. I'll confirm before I shoot it. The barrels wear a pair of ivory beads. It was also advertised as "barrels slightly loose on face" but that does not seem to be the case. There is absolutely zero play or any movement of the barrels in the receiver or on the hinge and it locks up tight with the lever well right of centre. The auto safety still functions properly and the triggers are crisp and positive with zero creep. I'll put my trigger pull gauge on them when I get a chance. There is no pitting or rust anywhere to be seen, bores are shiny and bright. There is a bit of colour case remaining on the top lever, top tang and water table. Screws are not chewed up. Engraving and stampings are crisp and sharp.
The wood furniture is beautifully figured without any visible cracks but there are some light scratches and a few handling marks. The stock has a lop of 13.5" to the front trigger and I'm fairly certain the stock has been refinished. It may even be a restock?
Not certain if the checkering pattern on the pistol grip stock is an original pattern but it is very nice and definitely looks like something Ithaca would have put on a graded gun. The forend appears to be original and untouched and in very good condition and snaps on/off securely with zero play.
A black pachmyr old english style pad has been added. The gun is lightweight, beautifully balanced, comes to shoulder smoothly and points like a dream!
I had my wife throw it to her shoulder a few times and when she picked it up she excitedly exclaimed "oh this is so nice and light" and then added with a tone of suprise mixed with excitement, "this is the first gun I have ever put to my shoulder that the beads are a perfect figure 8"! She then added "looks like I'm buying 16ga ammo now too!".
I told her I'd be more than happy to provide her with ammo if she was to take part in some SxS hunts and shooting with us.
Quite certain we have just added a nice little Hun, Grouse & Greenhead gun to the fall line-up!
Sorry for the poor lighting in the pics. Any recommendations for ammo for this old girl? I assume low pressure light loads of 7/8 to 1 oz would be more than adequate? Now to find a 16ga Mec loader...

Update: So apparently Ithaca changed the engraving to the heavy floral style on the Grade 1.5 in mid 1915 and the serial # denotes this gun as 1911 so this is the correct engraving for an early model Grade 1.5.

A new to me WW Greener joined the family....
Serial number 51044 from c1902 is a Facile Princeps in Grade F - called 'The International Gun' and cost 21 guineas according to a 1900 catalogue.
It is a lighter weight game gun at 6lb 5.2oz with great 28" barrels, heavy nitro proofs on original 2 1/2" chambers, and interestingly the right barrel carries the CYL-R stamp. Greener writes Cylinder guns without choke are not as functional as those with a little choking and that Greener guns stamped like this are an Improved Cylinder of 10 thou or thereabouts.
The chokes of this gun measure out to: Right Barrel - .006 Skeet, and Left Barrel - .035 Full.
I'd say it's in excellent original condition for a 124yr old gun!
It's a good game gun set up.
