would this include the 16" version? Love the concept and thinking of picking up a maverick as my first 308Hi Devin,
Yes, they should be available in December.
We are ramping up production and will have them ready as soon as we can.
Yes, new production will be in all standard MRA barrel lengths.would this include the 16" version? Love the concept and thinking of picking up a maverick as my first 308![]()
I just finished building my MRA Renegade 2 using parts from my banned Stag Arms AR-15 and thought I'd share my experience. While AR-15 parts do fit the Renegade receiver kit, in my case, there was some fitting required. The ambi mag release was really tight and was binding. I took some 180 grit sandpaper to the edges that were catching and with some elbow grease got it to fit and work. The Magpul ambi safety also would not fit into the hole. Again, I used 180 grit sandpaper and after a bunch of sanding, it finally fit. It was a bit tight at first, but after some use, has now loosened up. I'm not sure if it was the coating on the receiver metal that made the hole slightly smaller than on a typical AR lower? Not sure.Just to clarify - if a Mk. II receiver kit is purchased, the balance of parts are all standard AR-15?
That is, a banned AR-15 can be cannibalized to make a rifle?

My 12.5" barrel is a Stag 5.56 that fit no problem. It doesn't have a lot of round through it. I removed the gas tube, flipped around the gas block to block off the hole in the barrel. The issue was with the MRA bolt that came with the kit. It is ever so slightly shorter in the lugs compared to my Stag Arms one, and it allowed the bolt to close on my .223 No Go gauge. When I fired it, the case kind of got stuck and the bolt handle required a bit of force to eject it. I stopped there and checked the barrel comparing my old Stag bolt and the new MRA bolt...the Stag bolt would not close on the No Go gauge, but the MRA bolt does. I would have just used my old Stag bolt, but it's a lefty AR-15, so I couldn't use it as it ejects to the wrong side. Ordered a new BCM bolt which arrived today, and just checked it...now it doesn't close on the No Go gauge. It may be that if you are using a regular AR-15 barrel, you may need to swap out the bolt to a mil spec one to have the proper headspace? Anyone else have this experience?
Other than that, I love this thing! I'm waiting for the Mavericks to go back in stock...maybe I'll pick up one of those too in the future.
Oh yeah...I had some questions while I was building my rifle, and MRA was really good with their customer support! Also, most places are out of stock of the MRA Renegade torque rod, but TNA will for a small fee turn down a regular AR-15 one that they sell so that it fits in the MRA receiver. Thanks!
Yeah I am pleased with my Renegade 2 kit. I did have the same issue with their bolt. I had to use my Colt 6920 bolt in the end and that works slick. With the MRA bolt I had to mortar the rifle almost every shot. Besides that the rifle is fantastic.I just finished building my MRA Renegade 2 using parts from my banned Stag Arms AR-15 and thought I'd share my experience.
