Deer hunting round under .275 caliber

I live in southwestern Ontario and cannot hunt with anything above .275 caliber. I want to know what would be the best round I can use and would prefer something that is in a lever action. I have been looking at the 6.5 Creedmore but was wondering if there was something better.

Probably nothing better that is common, under 275 and available in a lever action. I'd say it's 6.5 CM or 243 Win.

Browning BLR have all kind of chamberings for sure 243, maybe 6.5 creed…

BLR and Henry Long Ranger in 6.5 and .243 are the only lever actions I can think of. The BLR was made for some time in .257 Roberts, but good luck finding one.

Oh yeah, and .250-3000 in a Savage 1899 or Model 99. Those are nice.

Also there is the old 270 or a 25-06
My choice would be the 6.5cm

6 mm Remington or maybe a 257 Robert’s might be up your alley ?

257 wee bee works for me.
I also shoot 6.5 - 284 norma, appreciate long slippery bullets in the wind

I doubt there is anything better than the 6.5CM for the hunting you are talking about. It checks off a lot of boxes for deer hunting including guns to choose from, ammo easy to find and loading components.

Some of the others suggested are very good choices, but try to find one and feed it.

I live in Southern Ontario and we are pretty much limited to shotguns,archery and muzzleloaders for deer. Like you said that caliber restriction is for small game like Coyote.

Which is ridiculous. I can shoot a coyote or small game with a 6.5 or a 270 (yes I checked with the CO), but if I want to hunt deer or bear on the same same property? Sorry that has to be a shotgun.

No argument from me, plus where I live it's bows and muzzleloaders only, NO shotguns.
