I would like to confirm the length of an unfired 3.5" shotgun round in millimetres.

Figured I would ask here as this is probably the best chance for folks who actually have / shoot 3.5" shotgun rounds.

The inter web suggests that SAAMI max rolled or folded is 3.155″ (translates to 80.137mm) and SAAMI max uncrimped 3.51″ (translates to 89.154mm).

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what project you are working on but unfired length isn't as critical as fired length. Shotgun chambers are marked for the maximum length of a fired shell.

The shotgun in question has a 3.5" chamber so no concerns there.

I am trying to work out magazine length to purchase a custom mag tube and the lengths are in mm. I want to stay legal (less than 6 rounds) but leave a little wiggle room so it isn't tight with 5.

The length varies by manufacturer in my experience. I can measure a few when I get home, but I don't have/shoot a ton of 3.5" shells so I only have a few examples.

it really does not matter that's why you have a plug in the mag tube you would use the same mag tube with 2 3/4" plugged to hold the correct amount

I'm not really sure what point you are trying to make.

I already explained I am purchasing a custom magazine tube which means figuring out what length it should be. There wont be a plug, the magazine is custom built to the correct length for less than 6 rounds of 3.5" ammo.

I have At hand some
Remington premier magnum turkey high velocity
12 gauge 3 1/2" velocity 1300FPS 2oz 5#### size.
The overall lenght of the UNFIRED cartridge is 76 millimeters.
