Greetings all - I'm searching for a set of scope bases for a Model 94 AE XTR lever action in 356 Winchester. This is one of the early production rifles from around circa 1983. The unusual feature about the bases for this production run is that the tapped holes are done radially (side by side) which means that the holes are side by side rather then front and back of each other. These earlier produced rifles only had the base holes drilled in this fashion before Winchester decided to drill the holes in the more typical fashion of front and back of each other.

There is a gun shop in the US called Mid West Gun Works out of Pevely, MO that has the bases but will not sell or ship to a Canadian buyer. They were not willing to find a way to export them and said they are only able to ship to an American address. So I didn't clarify whether this was the store policy or from US law.

I've got my fingers crossed hoping that a Gun Shop in Canadian has them in stock where I could buy them so I can mount a scope on this rifle. Keep in mind that Weaver did NOT produce these bases for the earlier Model 94 AE XTR big bore lever guns but Winchester did. Weaver did make them for the newer Angle Eject rifles that have the bases holes drilled from front to back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards - Highwind

Have you looked at the dr pearson no drill rails? It replaces the rear sight and replaces the link pin retaining screw. They make one for the 94.

I’ve been thinking of getting one for my Rossi lever.

It might be easier to find than the scope bases.

I had to pull out my 307 out and have a look at the mounts. My front mount has the screws in-line with the barrel. Mine was made in 84. I had the mounts here at one time but sold them.
Have you tried cross referencing with other companies. ?
Winchester was the only company that produced the scope mounts for the early Big bore (356) M94 AE XTR with radially drilled holes for the Bases. I may need to find as friend to do what has been mentioned.

Thanks for the link but I'm not sure if it fits the M94 XTR as it doesnèt show it in at the site.
