Model 99 coming back?

The M99 is a beautiful gun. I have one that is chambered for 30-30, and I really like it, as I find it easier to load than a Winchester '94, and it is a lot easier and safer to unload than other lever guns (where you have to chamber every single round to remove them from the magazine). Mine is also old enough to have the brass rotary mag follower as well.

All in all, a very nice gun.

I also hope they make a model in 7.62 x 39 soviet. We need a levergun in that calibre.

given the popularity, though, i think the first cal we'll see is our good old 308, then they'll probably see how the sales do, and others as a follow-on

Fellas I need some help here. After a year of looking for a 99 Savage I was able to aquire a used 99C chambered in .308. I paid $250 bucks for her. I am ordering stocks for it I have re-blued it and very desperatly need a safety top slide mechanism for it. I have looked everywhere and am un-able to locate what I need. If anyone knows of or has one that they would sell , please let me know. Thank you. I really hope that they bring out a new lever gun so that my daughter will not only have mine to shoot.

if it's just the slide itself, the manfuactuer's number is 99-193- e parts number 142230- however, putting it in requires a smith unless you know the action intimately

What do you meen by E-parts number? If its what I think it is they dont have any either. Please explain???? I am new to internet parts sourcin.

i am not a big savage fan but must admit many seem well impressed for the value, we have a old savage 99 in 300 savage at my uncles farm and was never to curiouse about it are they realy known to be good shooters?

One of the best in my eyes. A good 99 in 300 Sav is good for most of Canada's big game. I wouldn't be taking it grizz hunting but anything else would be a go.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I always thought 99's were ugly.;)

In all seriousness It sounds like a bluff, I dont' see it coming back. If it does it will likely be cheapened or too expensive to compete with the other can-opener models out there already.

The only thing that you need is a good thick barreled 99. I shouldn't have said "any" 99. An R and maybe even an EG will be perfect candidates. A smith in the U.S. sent this to me.

Joe, Sorry for the delay, Been off to the SCI convention.
I'm sorry, but I set the minimum dimension at .125 per side, We'd need a muzzle of at least .600 to safely hold the pressure.
Would you be willing to look at the .338 Federal ctg? I've done several conversions on that one already.
Dan

Oops, sorry, that was for the 358 Winchester.

Large brain fart, again, any 99 will work.

I really need a rest.

If you had the dough and the time you could have that done now.

Boyds makes laminate 99 stocks, parkerizing can be done and any 99 in 308 can be rechambered and rebored to 338 federal.

My comment was tongue in cheek.
