What ring to mount Surefire G2

What ring would you recommend to mount a Surefire G2 on an 870. I've got a piece of Picatinny rail on it - just need a ring that can hold the G2. Also, is the G2 light assembly shock buffered for recoil as a weapon mounted light like the purpose made Surefire weapons lights? Thanks.
 
Google VLTOR, they make a real nice one for the G2. You can find cheaper stuff on Ebay, but then you get what you pay for.
 
I was just able to stuff mine into a 1" scope ring. It isn't pretty but it works.
Haven't fired mine a lot on the shotgun so I can't comment on how well it holds up.

I really like the look of that Vltor ring, it looks like the one to get (any availability in Canada?). I have a GG&G 1" ring that I wasn't able to fit my G2 into. Thanks for the info.
 
You're welcome. I am pretty sure they have a distributor in Canada but I can't remember who. Maybe Wolverine? (top of the page) You can always email Vltor to find out. Check the stickies here as I'm not sure you can order that direct from the 'States without paperwork. Sounds crazy even for that part but trust me based on my own bad experience.
 
I personally would give the G2 a pass, but take my opinion with a grain of salt in this department, my knowledge on that specific area is limited. Check Surefire's website to be sure, email their customer service if you don't find the answer.

It doesn't have the shock resistent bezel on it AFAIK.
Having said that, I've subjected mine to a few hundred rounds of 9mm out of a carbine with zero problems. I know that isn't anywhere near a shotgun recoil but it's a benchmark of sorts.
