Interesting testing on the .22 Hornet. I liked the scapula embedded in the gel block part of the test.

I mentioned in a different thread that my friend used his Hornet with great results on Sitka Blacktails. I'm guessing the deer were between 60-80 pounds live weight.

I got over a grand worth or brass and bullets for the hornet and still dont own one yet

You sound like me. Except I start getting jittery if I have $50 worth of brass with no rifle to go with it. "I really should buy an X as it would be a shame for this brass to go to waste!"

On the other hand, I had a pile of brass for .300 Win Mag that I got rid of because I wasn't planning on getting another one. So what arrived in the mail today? A .300 Win Mag. Now I HAVE to buy some brass.

Ultimately the moral of the story is I always seem to have a reason to either buy a rifle or brass. Or both.

I will get another 300wm as well I kept the brass n dies from my last 3. Just waiting for the right gun. I hunt ontario so a 300wm isn't needed but I like the cartridge. I have a hard time warming up to a 308 despite liking the rifles I have chambered.
I even have brass for cartridges I dont even know what they are. Slimmer and straighter than the 22 hornet with a smaller thinner rim. My eyes I can't make out the stamping they're so small. Plus I have brass for some other small almost straight wall rimmed 22 cal. TCM or something I can't recall right now
Still kinda want to play with the hornet. A nice classy single shot break action would be great for calling coyotes in the timber

There are two Brno Fox II's in the EE right now....
I don't know what is holding you back...
I know, I know you are looking for a single shot , but my Fox II is a very cute scaled down of a full sized rifle.
Hence my unabashed pimping of those two in the EE.
Tight Groups,
Rob

I'm about to find some 22 hornet dies as I've been gifted a 200 brass an some reloads , an bought the 40gr Speer accidentally that suit the 22H ...
I'm just low on ar2207 powder right now but will stock up soon as the 222 an 762 both use it!

Looking forward to scoping the BRNO an shooting it a bit now an then!

Good vid thanks for sharing

I have a 16.5" barreled 223 that I use when I need a small varmint rifle. Its amazingly accurate with the 55gr king game hp bullets and I really love the nightforce on top of it. That's what is holding me back.
Every other rifle I buy puts me further away from another double rifle

Understood, so many guns, so little disposable income ...
Look forward to the day your double comes to fruition.

I’ve owned a lot of hornets. I shoot mostly 30-42 gr varmint bullets. Gophers to coyotes and some damn solid badgers. Not a deer cartridge imho, but an old guy I knew supplied deer meat to seven families in depression. He used a hornet and a light. (Not sporting and not legal but it was his choice). I’ve a Ruger #1&#3 and my son has my very accurate Browning micro medallion. I also agree that factory ammo is costly compared to the cost of reloading.

If one thinks factory .22 Hornet ammo is $$ to play with oe should check out some .218 Bee prices and availability for schitz and giggles.
Suddenly 218 and even 220 Swift ammo testing/hunting are showing up on my ewe toob feeds and I am not actively searching for those calibres.
Those pesky AI botts and algo rhythms are starting to cause me some concern with Big Brother.
I'm glad I have a supply of tinfoil though.

What are some the most reliable best choice bolt rigs your guys recommend in .22 hornet?

I too got a huge stash of this ammo on a lot I purchased and been saving it for a nice new rifle :)
