CCI .22 shotshell patterning

I’ve used them to wing shoot yellow jacket wasps in the shop. Those tiny pellets really sting if they hit anything hard and bounce back ya.

Sorry but only an AHOLE would shoot swallows!!! This pisses me off, for 20 years I had nesting platforms and boxes on my hobby farm for barn swallows, tree swallows and violet green swallows. For 19 years the barn swallows always showed up on April 17/18. These birds also eat an amazing amount of mosquitos. I also had nesting boxes for wood ducks, barn owls, purple finches, bat boxes, platforms for red tailed hawks

Those patterns show why I missed the rat I shot at... too far away.
May be of interest - I shot it through a .22 suppressor - (It was in New Zealand, perfectly legal). Subsonic hollowpoint ammo barely made more noise than the bolt rattling back and forth, the shotshell made one heck of a loud pop.

Maybe the shot shells began to spread after they left the muzzle and struck the baffles? I'm pretty sure these are meant to be shot out of revolvers or smooth bore rifles (garden gun mentioned above). No shooshers.

My limited experience with 22 long rifle shot shells, I found them only useful on small pests if very close like within 6 or 7 feet away, any further than that they were useless IMO.

Try it on a grouse... you will see 'dust' all around the bird but it will fly far away... and maybe die eventually.

About 10 years ago, I picked up a BNIB LH Savage MKII single shot smooth bore. Around that time, Cabela's had a good inventory of the crimped shot loads, so I bought about a brick or so. I don't use it often, I leave the mice and such to my cats now. I did the same pattern testing from 5' to 25' and the shot density at 25' was about what your rifled barrel is at 10'.

On the topic of novelty shotguns, I also have two late 60's Crosman Trap Master 1100's. They use a dual CO2 with a unique plastic shot shell, through a .38" barrel. At the time I picked up two of them, I got some of the original 45 year old ammo, and some new production shot. Loading the empty plastic hull with a .375 lead round ball is fun as well.

Nice At that range it would be much more useful to people
Makes sense the rifling in mine would just be in the way

Some time ago, I tried these for shooting pigeons in our old bank barn.

Killed every one I shot, except most took literally hours to die. 5 yards would be the maximum effective range on these for pigeons and rats, otherwise these are, IMO inhumane and should not be used.
