Hello all,

Just got my first deer this year, and after getting it skinned and hung up I noticed that cyst-like growth inside it.
Can anyone tell me what it is, and should I be worried about it?

Cut it out first then dig in there and you'll likely find an arrowhead. We get butcher scraps for coyote bait and he found 5 or 6 broadheads or chunks of arrow shaft in deer this year. Only one was from this season. The rest were old and surrounded by gross cyst/scar tissue.

One was running right along the spine right tight against it. Like someone tried to take a walking away shot to the spine.

Also known as the "Texas Heart"shot....

Will do so tonight, and report back.

Here are a few more photos from after cutting it out.
It also looked like there is a similar, but smaller and more recessed mound on the other side of the spine.
