Hi
Was thinking of these bullets for deer

Hornady InterLock Bullets 25 Caliber (257 Diameter) 100 Gr Spire Point

Anyone with any experience or knowledge on these bullets ?

Product #2540?

I've used them in my .250-3000 for years. I've taken it hunting a few times, but have yet to make contact with a deer while that gun was in my hands.

More importantly, I believe it has been recently discontinued. No point developing loads with them, there is only old stock on shelves.

Thanks for the info

I used them a lot in 257 weatherby rifles. Newer production isn’t nearly as tough as the original bullets that came in boxes with reinforced corners .image.jpg

Good bullets! Downed a medium size deer this yr with one shot from 250Sav & Horn 100 Interlock, no exit wound but deer was standing quartering away about 80 yds, went in about 8' behind front shoulder & messed up all the vitals, bullet musta exited with the internals. Last of my Interlocks have been loaded, so feel free to throw them my way. ;)

I have used those extensively in my 25-06 for 50 years. I was recently gifted a 257 Roberts and used the same bullet last year to take a doe. Since they were discontinued I have managed to find 5 old boxes plus 2 of the newer. Why change what ain’t broke. I now have enough to last me till I’m planted.

Decent cup and core standard bullets. Will work just fine on broadside shots on any deer at normal ranges under 300 yards or so. Don't expect them to drill a deer lengthwise from behind and don't expect them to perform as ultra long range bullets. Penetration is not so great if pushed over 3000 fps impact velocity. They won't disappoint if you shoot a deer at reasonable range in the heart/lung region.

I have about 120 rounds of virgin brass 257 Roberts loaded with 100gr Interlocks to pull apart and sell the components. If you need some components hit me up!

I'd be tempted to test a few rounds of TTSX bullets in the Roberts. it's certainly got the speed to ensure bullet expansion in the 100 grain flavor and even more so in the 80 grain option. the 80 grain would run out of torque pretty quickly but that 100 grain bullet might be a sweet choice.

The 100 grain Interlocks are an excellent bullet, but the A hole Idiots at Hornady discontinued them, same as many of their great products, I am slowly switching over to Speer bullets as Hornady has pissed me off way too many times.

Hi
Is there something similar by Speer or others?

I've only used the 100gr hot core with the 257 Weatherby, they shoot well, but I've never taken any game with them. I think they'd be the perfect bullet at 257 Bob speeds.

The 120 Speer grand slam is also a great bullet, if you want penetration and killing power. I put one through 2 white tails ( yes two with one shot) they both dropped in there tracks.
