Any M14s problems from last batch?

Howdy Folks.Now that most of us have had our rifles for at least a month to two,what issues(problems) have happened?For a round count on mine I've put through 100 on one and my before shortened only has 60.Not one hiccup and nothing has fallen off. I know its a pretty low round count but with all the worries we had on the board before about quality issues,I was wondering how many problems crept up.Thanks for your time and thoughts.:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:
 
Thirtyfive rounds stone stock. I then tightened gas sytem and op rod guide, and lapped in an SA USGI bolt. I have put another twentyfive ass't rounds through with two ftf from mag. I am using commercial, ball, and handloads. Much testing to follow. :D
 
One of the last ones I got had an issue. The mags wouldn't seat properly. You had to tap the bottem with a mallet to rock them in. After much discussion with the owner, I decided to clean up the top of the mag release with some emery paper. I took all the phosphate off, and after about 100 seatings the mags started going into place properly. this was with 6 different mags as well so that was not the issue.
Not a big deal but I though I'd mention it.

I took a bone stock, brand new m14s out last weekend for tac rifle practice.... swapped the rear sights out for usgi and ditched the chu wood for a walnut m1a stock but other than that... bone stock. No a single malfunction and we ran her through several times, with 6 mag changes during a run through, using 6 different norc mags (2 5/5 and 4 5/20) and SA surplus.
I even managed a few double tap A zone hits :D
I was exceptionally pleased with this particular norc rifle.... she will remain UN-usgi - ized hehehe ;)
 
Ran 40 rounds through it and was hitting a 8X10 steel plate with irons at EESA bone stock.

Just put a fiberglass re-enforcing rod in the forestock and bedded the piston housing and OpRod guide. Then put a BSquare and a Fitco 6-24X45 on it a zero'd it at my buddies range. 5 round 1 inch group at 100m without breaking a sweat with factory 150gr Winchester.

Not a single FTF or issue of any kind so far.
 
20 rnds thru mine since it arrived in Jan. Other than smacking my nose with the back of my right thumb from having my face to close to my right hand on the first trigger pull, all went well.
All original..and I mean ALL...Nada changed, original Chinese wood and everything.
My aim might be a bit off after tapping my beak cause the rnds were all over the place. I'll get over it. Taking it out this weekend again.
 
I got mine in the third week of January, but only broke the tape on the box this week, as I have been involved in a job change / cross-country move.

It feels good, but the rear sight is loose, without any positive clicks when moving the knobs. I'm going to clean it up some more and see if it tightens up.

The right hand side slotted nut tightens the tension so that it moves with more positive clicks. Tighten it just enough to get solid clicks and make sure you can still move windage. The screw on the left is for zeroing the elevation dial after you sight it in.
 
JUST A REMINDER;
We have another container of M-305 rifles (M-14s) arriving in about 3 weeks, it is already 60% sold....

My problem wasn't quite so simple. The sight nut was binding inside the windage knob, so no matter how carefully I tensioned it, as soon as I adjusted the elevation knob, the nut unscrewed itself, and the sight lost all spring tension again.

I disassembled the whole unit, completely degreased it and re-assembled it, taking care that the 'D' of the pinion shaft properly engaged the key inside the windage knob. This improved things some, but not enough. So, I went to plan B and put a drop of blue loctite on the pinion shaft threads:cool:. It now passes the living room sight adjustment test.

Shooting this thing is about the first thing I am going to do once I get Alberta plates on my car.
