I’m looking at picking up either a Husqvarna 1640 or 1900. What is parts availability like for these rifles. Is that something I should even concern myself with?

Intersurplus maybe. Honesty I’ve had several of those over the last 5 years and NONE of them needed parts. Even for 80+ years old they were all shooters, built very well. any decent smith should be able to remedy whatever issues you have. M96 and m98 actions are EVERYWHERE.
Okay this is what I’m thinking. I had M38 Mausers in military form and they were built like tanks. I shouldn’t even worry about it.

The 96 and 98s are built even better. I recently sold an m96 sporter in 6.5x55 I’m having sellers remorse. Luckily I sold it to a buddy and said I want it back if he ever sells.
I have an Obendorf M96, it is the epitome as far as I am concerned. My M38 is nice, but there is no comparason. The Obendorfer has a better finish and trigger than any of the others I have owned over they years. They all shot amazingly.

Parts are available from Intersurplus, a banner sponsor, or from several US surplus dealers, such as Sarco.

You will likely need a broker to get some of the parts, if needed.

Parts on these rifles do break, it happens.

How often they break depends on the owner in most cases, but I've seen them with bolt handles cracked at the root, broken sights, or even badly worn parts.

Thank you. I’m buying either a 1640 or 1900 from intersurplus and in hindsight could have dug deeper into their parts category. I love the quality of these rifles. In all likelihood I’ll spend a little more and get the 1900.

I had one of those as well. Beautiful rifle but my M38 although not as nice shot better for me.

Well if your worried about parts breaking you could always buy a second one from Intersurplus for parts. Problem solved.

I have a 1640 from intersurplus that doesn't eject - have to take it apart yet, but appears to be a broken or out of place spring. The ejector sticks out the face of the bolt until pressure is applied to it, then it drops down into the bolt removal position. If anyone knows of a spring supply, please let me know!
