Anyone hunting Africa this year?

Likewise for me. Awesome hunting here in Canada, especially in Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon and the Territories. I'll give money to Canadians over Africans.

Meh, things are changing. In 37 years of putting in for moose draws I've received 4 tags. It used to be that you did have some regular open season opportunities if you were willing to travel, but I'd guess that 90% of moose opportunities are draw here now. Remote places that I have been to have now become draw only - for example in the far Northwest, where it was open a couple of years ago if you were willing to make the 1600km (each way) drive, is now draw with 23:1 odds with only 2 tags available, so good luck ever getting that one.

Places where I hunted sheep in my 20's on a general open season is now draw only with +100:1 odds. Kamloops Lake sheep? 3369:1 odds.

Mule deer is limited to one in region 3, 4, 5, 6, 7A, 7B and 8 combined - that is basically all of BC, with rut closures and short seasons.

The management of wildlife in BC is an absolute disgrace. I mean, I could go moose hunting every year in my back yard if I am willing to pay a guide +$14,000 for an 8 day hunt.

Haven't even touched on what is coming down the pipe with aboriginal title....

I hunt africa every year; it's called "Alberta". Diversity of big game, fowl and varmint is most plentiful.

Lol, even harder when you have. More species in most African hunting countries...in much closer proximity to one another...available to hunt simultaneously in one area...sometimes in vast numbers...at prices that are often far better despite the need to fly halfway around the world to get there.

And that's ignoring the exotic thrill of knowing...that you are in Africa!

You got that right. More Deer are killed on the roads than by Hunters. And why are they on the road? To get away from Wolves.

It's not an accident that Moose numbers have plummeted since Grizzly went first LEH, then banned.

6 point Elk and 4 point Muley during the Rut, what stupid seasons, hunt the biggest and best exclusively when they are most vulnerable. While leaving the most expendable, and best tasting, calves, as a Sacred Cow.

And it's almost like they want Caribou to go extinct or rather be extirpated.

Anyways, back to Africa, hope guys have good trips and post photos.

These two rifles are heading to Africa in April, the 6.5 & .350 Rem Mags, make an excellent African pairing for PG. The .350 is loaded with 250 grain Partitions for Kudu, Blue & Black Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Zebra and Gemsbuck and the 6.5 with 140 grain Accubonds for everything else... two weeks in the Highlands and a week in the Kalahari... can't wait, particularly now that hunting is over here. I timed this trip so that I can be back for spring turkey and bear. Lol.

I went to the Selous this year for the first time and am going to post a pic because it was an amazing trip. The ultimate hunting experience lies in Africa IMHO. The amount and quality of game is second to none and they are tough. An adventure of a lifetime.

I just bring it with me... 50 rounds for each in a Pelican case is exactly 11 pounds.

Just booked a 10 day hunt August '26 in Mozambique, Buffalo and plains game with CMS in the Magoe region, Tete province along lake Cahora Bassa. Something wonderful to anticipate!
