Spectre Superlite 10/22 Chassis

I find it's funny that Magdump sells chassis+handguard for $300 which is $5 cheaper than buying separately (180+125=305), but only in black.
Why not selling tanodized version in package?

My current plinker.

The handguard is just a draft at the moment so excuse the poor quality. Unfortunately the stock is fixed due to folded OAL nonsense (it would have been 24" folded).

I might grab another Superlite chassis and a ST22 receiver if I can source a 8" or shorter barrel... Gotta have something to replace my GSG-16 that fell overboard in a tragic maritime accident.
 
I recently bought the G3 chassis and although I am quite happy with it, i am wondering if you might consider doing a run of g2 forends. Or in other words, a G3 forend without the Arca rail and the beveled corners instead?

Wud love that.
Wud also luv to know if a G2 forend wud fit on a G3 chassis.

I have one as well. I think they did say that they're not planning to make different G3 forends sadly. A bit of a shame, since that'd be some nice weight reduction, since my 10/22 caps out at like 7 lbs loaded.

Yep,
Great chassis otherwise.
No idea what the function of the full arca rail is.
There is almost no way to get a 10/22 heavy enough out front to balance the rifle. Even as far back as it can go on the rail.

A more hand friendly for-end profile wud be appreciated for ergonomics.

Its not so bad with gloves on i guess

Main purpose of the Arca rail is to mount/dismount a bipod. And I think a lot of chassis shooting is trying to get that last wee bit of precision in a supported position like that. With more than one rifle, I'd reach for one with a conventional stock for offhand shooting.

I've seen a 10/22 with a heavy IBI barrel and a lightweight stock get close to balanced. External Arca rail for a bit more weight up front, so that would have been on a Spectre G1 chassis.

The Superlite gives you a smooth rail up front where your hand would go, and you can screw on a short rail all the way forward for bipod when needed. Ideal for a lightweight rig. The current full stock with the built-in Arca would be a handy all-arounder. And in most weather you appreciate gloves having to grab aluminum anyway.

I actually have both the SBI G3 (straight from MagDump) and Superlite G2 (from CSC, the last one at that). Got them right in time before the price increases.

It really depends on how you want to kit the gun. As the other guy mentioned, the ARCA rail is a QD rail for Bipods. If you have no need for them I suggest a Magpul AFG (the railed one)

The 10/22 may not be that heavy out front but barrel length can really affect how fast you can swing the gun…just like every other gun. With the SBI G3, it’s around 528g so when you trick it all out the whole gun is like 7-8lbs fully loaded with a 10x2 BX-1 mag, if you do so it’s better for PRS shootings. Main failure point of the chassis will be where the pistol grip mount is, but a #12-24 screw is able to handle 8lbs no problem. I’m still quite paranoid about that design decision though, since there’s so much material on that chassis that screw hole can actually go a bit deeper than a 1/2” long screw.

The Superlite on the other hand lives up to the name, literally featherweight (at least half a pound lighter than G3) in comparison, and overall 40-50$ cheaper. Generally this one is more for a run-and-gun or competition than PRS, so you might wanna look into it. Main failure points will be the 4 screws that holds the chassis (atp it’s a lower), and the 3 handguard screws. The pistol grip mount screw is good enough on this one so I have no worries. Torque them all properly and it’s as durable as the G3 chassis for generally less weight.
